Speaking of the Ventura, has anybody read "Fear in the Night" by Errol Braithwaite (pub 1959)? It is a gripping read. The book tells the story of an RNZAF Ventura forced down on a deserted bomb cratered airfield on a Japanese-controlled Pacific island. There is a lot of very detailed stuff around the structure of the aircraft, told as the aircrew spend a tense 8 hours in darkness desperately trying to make running repairs, before a Japanese patrol from the nearest base reaches the airfield.
One of those books covering a fairly short time-span, from forced landing to trying to take off under fire. The description of the dorsal gunner keeping the Japanese patrol at bay by hand-cranking the turret, makes me very keen to try and recreate the scenario in some crude form with a mission in CFS3.
Kudos to the maestros bringing us the Hudson and the Ventura!
Really looking forward to fly the famous daylight strike on the power station in Amsterdam on may 03rd 1943 during which the Victoria Cross was awarded to Group Captain Leonard Henry Trent. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Henry_Trent
