Speaking of the Ventura, has anybody read "Fear in the Night" by Errol Braithwaite (pub 1959)? It is a gripping read. The book tells the story of an RNZAF Ventura forced down on a deserted bomb cratered airfield on a Japanese-controlled Pacific island. There is a lot of very detailed stuff around the structure of the aircraft, told as the aircrew spend a tense 8 hours in darkness desperately trying to make running repairs, before a Japanese patrol from the nearest base reaches the airfield.

One of those books covering a fairly short time-span, from forced landing to trying to take off under fire. The description of the dorsal gunner keeping the Japanese patrol at bay by hand-cranking the turret, makes me very keen to try and recreate the scenario in some crude form with a mission in CFS3.

Always impresses me how much detail can be incorporated in a paint job, really enhances a well-modelled 'pit. :applause: :applause: :applause:
