A Taste of Things to Come (Spitfire Preview)

Fantastic news! Thank you Ankor and Gecko for the clickable cockpit, a feature I really missed from CFS1, and you did it even better.

A big thanks yet again to Ankor for the new clickable cockpit. Much easier for me than trying to remember all the multi-key commands on the Spitfire

Great work Dan & co. Not surprised it has taken time; along with real life stuff. Now all other CFS3 aircraft will look 2nd or 3rd best!:wiggle:

They've done a huge job ! Great things to come ! Take all the time needed, just know we are still very interested in the project. Regards,Scott

I may have to create a few tutorial videos to help people transition into flying with more complex systems. If you're used to flying more recent sims like DCS or the newer IL-2 series then you shouldn't have too hard of a time, but if you're used to CFS3's rather simplified and generic aircraft systems you will find the Spitfire a bit more challenging than what you've flown before.

Release date? Hopefully soon! I've been the main cause of delay as I keep trying to squeeze more features into the systems coding. There's so much more that I could add, not enough hours in the day!

I thought IL-2 '46 was hard till i checked out the new BoX series! Hope this bird isn't too complicated to fly but love the clickable features. Haven't had that since CFS-1 ! Outstanding work.I'm sure the new Spitfires will be worth the wait. Regards,Scott

Something I wanted to ask. If I recall correctly you don't use my DX9 shaders.
Previously you were missing just the "moving" reflector sight, but now clickable cockpit and new controls won't work without DX9 shaders.
What is the reason you don't use them?

Any chance we do see an VR mod for CFS3.
Unlikely. VR needs DX11 and judging by my pace it is very unlikely that I ever finish DX11 version.
And CFS3 engine is not very suitable for VR anyway, it has troubles delivering smooth framerates which are essential for a good VR experience.

Your shaders package does not work with my temporary laptop. Can't wait to have them once i get a new pc though. Regards,Scott

sixstrings5859, ok, I just wanted to be sure it wasn't some issue with my code. Because if it was, it would have been better to fix it before Spitfire is released :)

Will the new Spitfires be able to be used at all if you don't have AnKor's shaders? Understand that some features will not operate without the shaders package but will there be a option for those who don't use them,(at least make the aircraft flyable) ? Regards,Scott

Yes, we've been careful to make sure it will work without the shaders and can even still be used without the new software I've been writing for all the new cockpit functions. Of course the best experience will be had when using the new software and with the shaders installed. That will be the only way to see all the new features we have added.

What range of marques are going to be covered in this package? We've seen the IIa and IIb, and mentions of the F I; will there be any Mk Vs or VIs? (I was the guy who commented about Griffon Spits on the video btw :) )

Hi, welcome!

At present it looks like the IIA and IIB will be released first, with several variants of each. We have a lot of work done on the Mk.Is and some Mk.Vs planned to follow.

The Spit cockpit anims looks great. Do the extra buttons that are not normally in CFS3 actually change the FM or external parts that are not normally animated?

Yes, the extra switches and levers are functional.
