A thank you by pictures

Me and my wingies had some bad weather in January 1917.

Paarma,

How did you do that? I thought that CFS/OFF wouldn't allow individual skins for the different flight members.
Also did you do the skin for the Rose Nieuport 11 for P2? I'm still trying to get a good picture of that rose for a scale modeling project I'm doing.

Scott

Hi, Scott. Nice, Uhh? WM did the beautiful little N11 "Bebe" model and the first skin, that rose. It's hanging at the Musée de l'Air, Le Bourget (click here)

I then did another couple of hundred Nieuport skins in high detail that are in the game. As you play you'll see them appear, depending on where and when you fly as they are historically correct, thanks to Shredwards work.

So are those kick butt Alby skins available to use in the game or do we need to download them from somewhere?

Paarma-
If it was you who did the Spad VII skins, thank you! The Spad VII was my favorite plane because my interest in WW1 aviation started with a paperback copy of "Falcons of France" by James Normal Hall I got in 1960 (yikes!). However, the P2 Spad V11 skin was not highly detailed so I didn't fly it often. The P3 Spad V11 has to be the most improved plane of P3 (although the SE5 is pretty close). I never realized the importance of good skins. As someone stated above the skins in P3 are a major part of the improvement. For me, the other major improvement was Winder's terrain, which is now so interesting that I spend a part of every mission simply sightseeing (this will probably get me in trouble sooner or later...).

Im glad you like the spad´s. Yeah the p3 3d model of spad VII is now updated and show much more details, also the skins i made again and are much more detailled than the p2 skins. There is also now 4 color camo and 5 color camo skins for spad VII, whitch was in use 1918.

Cheers

Arto

Rabu,

Thanks for the link, I'm building an R/C 1/3 scale model of that plane. I have hundreds of pictures but I don't have a good close up of the rose. I'm going to need one to make a stencil. Figures WM did it, probably the busiest member of the OFF team right now, maybe after the patch is released he'll have time to send me something.

Thanks,
Scott Dean

Olham,

I visited Jasta 15 yesterday. Unfortunately the Baron was on a lone wolf mission and I could not meet him or photograph his personal plane. However, I received a warm welcome by the Jasta pilots and was treated with a fine lunch of bratwurst and sauerkraut, as well as schnapps at the bar. I was allowed to photograph the unit's aircraft on the ground and in the air. I definitely admired the vivid colours of these machines and the aerodynamic but solid build, eminent of German engineering excellence.

I might be coming back early next moring for more atmospheric shots. I hope the Baron returns with himself and his plane in one piece.

Well visit also zepra jasta 1 in later 1918 or jasta 18 1918. Well visit all jastas... many rainbow colors :).

Nice pictures btw! :applause:

Wowwww!!! Look at these SPADs - they are wonderful! Paarma, you haven't only made
an enormous contribution for the visual attraction of the game - you have also made,
that I will start an alternative French or American campaign as a SPAD pilot.
The upper left is a picture, worth to hang on the wall, really!

Hey, ROOSTER, yeah, the Kaizer's side is fun almost everywere: exellent planes, exellent firepower, beautiful skins - what more could you ask for?

DIMUS, thanks for visiting my Jasta (a shame I wasn't there), and for the pics - these birds are wonderful!
Hope you enjoyed the Bratwurst and Sauerkraut. We always serve that to foreign visitors, because they just expect it. Funny thing is: when Japanese tourists come over here, they go to a "typicall Deutsches Restaurant" to eat Eisbein with Sauerkraut. I've seen that several times - they don't really fancy it (it's pretty fat and rich and sour) but they smile and be brave and eat it all up! It's a "must-have-done-it-once" for them. The other way round would be easier for me - cause I love Sushi !

Absolutely right, Paarma - visit all Jasta's. I will do so, when I have BHaH.

Dimus, Jasta 15 and the "Red Baron"? Oh no, more likely Rudolf Berthold:wavey:

Jagdgeschwader I commanded the "Red Baron" into 21. 4. 1918 and has been formed from Jasta 4, 6, 10 and Jasta 11.

Rudolf Berthold commanded Jagdgeschwader II, it means Jasta 12, 13, Jasta 15 and Jasta 19.

Regrettably I happened to meet you and i am now leading Jasta 15 ace!

Maybe next time:d

Salute gentlemen!

Schwarzer Baron,
DIMUS didn't mean the RED BARON, why don't you read it all?
He answered my post. I'm the "BORDEAUXred Baron" (slight difference), and I fly with Jasta 15, in June 1918, from Nesle.

Paarma-
Oh my gosh! I've just been flying a standard Spad7 and enjoying it. I had not seen any of the other skins. In real life are you an artist?

Paarma- I forgot to add that I especially like the 'dirty' look of the S7. I know that in Red Baron 3D's evolution, 'dirty' skins became a feature that, in my opinion, made the planes much more realistic and really helped immersion. This seems to be true for OFF as well. By the way, the cowling cutouts in ther S7 are so realistic, it took me ahwile to decide that they are 2D, not 3D. Thanks.

ww1 aviation hobby started when i first played red baron 1990 and then the all other ww1 sims. Including amiga games: knights of the sky, wings...
I have always loved the a/c´s and the history of pilots and squadrons etc...

I hope someday i could see the real spad vii and see actually the details that i have done now just from the pictures and yes that albatros in Australia.
