A thought...maybe

I've been looking at videos of IL2 Cliffs of Dover and I realized how real the water looks. It's mostly because of the same (?) shine effect that we have on most A/C in CFS2. I was just thinking, if A/C can have a shine on their textures, is there any way to apply these effects to water textures to give it the shine that reflects depending on the direction of the light source. I'm not a painter or a modeler so I'm not sure if this can be done. But if it can it would look great on Shessi's Europe Winter and Summer water textures.

Hi Wollf,
Yes totally agree, that would be a holy grail for CFS2, but unfortunately it's not possible without unlocking or being given the source code for the sim...which in reality, ain't gonna happen soon!

The real world is shiney in places, but not in CFS2.

The CFS3-ers have transformed their world with Ankors shaders, but that's a different sim-engine to ours.

The best is for people to have a go at making better coloured, and simulated 3D/shine tex.

Cheers

I thought it might not be as simple as I assumed. Hard to believe the source code is still such a closely guarded secret on a 22 year old sim.
