Aero L-39 Albatros

With all these "TopGun" Digital Artists working on the L-39 do you
think somebody could eventually work on Helmet "Mimic" repaints for :

the Soviet Era "ZsH-5" Helmet
( still used by Romanian Officers and many other military L-39 operators )
and
the Russain current "Zsh-7AP" Helmet
( also widely used by many military L-39 operators )

I know the oxygen mask could be a problem but at least could it be possible to try it without the O2 mask ?

I am sure that many "Lotus L-39 Fans" would appreciate it.

Millions Thanks in Advance !!!

I think it can be done quite easy.I,ll try when i get home on monday.
I don,t think romanians are still using those helmets ,from the photos i,ve seen. There are grey and dont have the oversize look like the russian hemet.Look more like the F16 usaf helmet, wich is the most "zexy" helmet .It will be a sad day for me when the new "JHMCS"
wird looking helmet will take over.
I,ve been watching you guys this week from my new Iphone while I was driving cross country.Surfing the net in the Nevada desert doing 80 mph, sweet.Useful little gadget ,but I had to let the typing out for safety reasons.
I see one of our young new members got himself banned in a record time. That,s sad.

Hello:

I would like to know if anybody had the idea to paint the virtual cockpit with the colour green (RUSSIAN) ?

At the moment we download skins with the cockpit painted with the colour green but only when we look At L-39 of the exterieur.

But once in the VC it's not colour green but of colour grey.......

This morning I tried some test and to paint the VC is the possible thing (hard work but possible), here is some try that I have just realized.

Anybody could explain to me which is the format to save my files for import to FSX ?
I use Photoshop and DXTBmp, wich format or extension to format of DXTBmp to FSX ?

A great thank's for your help, regards.

PS: Sory for my poor English....

Olivier.

......

Oliver, there are 2 VC texture types. One is for the VC when you look from outside, (L39Ext11 ) and i think it,s included in each texture folder and one for the VC from inside cockpit wich is located in the main shared texture folderActualy two cause you have one for the rear VC also. You have to rework all vc files.
Dont save anything with DXTBmp ,get the Nvidia DDS plug in for photoshop and save it as DXT1/DDS no mip maps or 32bit/DDS no mip maps.

Hello,

Hey Skulleader, are you going to convert some of the English text to Cyrillic? Your Russian green conversion looks brilliant!

AN-225 I'm very sorry but I dont' know the Cyrillic, but here 4 screens about my work It's almost finish:

Yeah mate I always thought that the HGU 55 - P helmet was the best looking one too well next to the Alpha mk 10B shown in the avatar as worn by RAF air crew, and I agree about that kid being banned wow that was fast lol.what he do anyone know??

Nice looking pit Olivier! Got the nose done on the firecat so far. :ernae:

Seems soooo promising, Skulleader, well done! Just go ahead! ;)
But please don't forget to change the cabin stickers white from this light green!
And I'm not sure in this two-shaded green main panel...maybe you need to search a picture on the net from the real one...if you want to be accurate. ;)

Guys, I know I have a rep for stirring up trouble, but I'm promise that's not what I'm trying to do here. Anyway, I bought it, and I was actually a little let down. Maybe I expected too much or something, but I didn't think it was that good of a release. It became obvious, then proven through research, that the .AIR file was a tweaked up default C172 offering. I love the VC, and the exterior is presented well, but the pixelated paint looks tacky to me. I'm not impressed when it comes to the amount this cost me and also when comparing it to the quality of other releases of late.

If anyone wants to respond, please be easy on me. I swear I'm not just starting crap; I just wanted to throw my two cents in.

Well Tigisfat, there are 262 real L-39's on the Civil Registry (and growing) and one can be had for a reasonable price if you desire realism at it's truest form. My business partner and I are actually considering buying one as well as looking at other similar options. My business partner's PQ's for flying the type are kosher with the FAA's rules(he is a former F-4 & F-16 Pilot) but my PQ's aren't quite there yet(which will change before long). Some guys I've talked to who are L-39 qualified seem to think this model is pretty dead on flight dynamics wise and yes more than a few have tried this and many other FS models out of interest. "Similar to a large GA with a turbofan instead of a Lycoming" seems to be how the L-39 is describe here and there. When I go to do my orientation ride next month, I will give you my fair and unbiased assessment.

(Edit), BTW, judging by your avatar, you really should get out from under those B-1B's and get some sun!!! LMAO..............

Thanks for the help Yago9 for the future helmet/crew "Options".
For your information :

Romanians are still using the Zhs-5

Russians are using the most recent Zhs-7AP

Zhs-5 ( back seater ) on this photo

I also bet that "Third World" L-39 operators like Central Asia
ex-soviet countries like Georgia, Azerbaidjan, Turkmenistan,
Kazakhstan, Armenia, etc are using these Russian made helmets.

The same for other countries like Algeria, Libya, Egypt, Irak,
Ethiopia, Vietnam, etc...

Thanks in advance

I've been wringing my hands over buying this for a few days since I found out about it. Put off a bit that it was only available as a download and from abroad (I'm a narrow minded old codger at times - most of them, according to the other half!) but eventually bit the bullet. Can't say I've been disappointed at all.

I'm sure there are other products out there that are pixel perfect in every detail, with a flight model that has been painstakingly coded from manufacturers data for true fidelity, with every single teensy switch, valve, lamp and screw that functions as reality... but we are talking about a game here, after all. PMDG's products are 'realistic' but look at the price and I dont think the visual look of them is any better. This is the work of one man, not a team, and in my opinion he's done a damn good job everywhere on it. Thing to remember is, this is a basic jet trainer. Stands to reason that it will be easy to fly and not too twitchy or demanding for the studes (at least, that was the way basic jet trainers were considered from my RAF days) so why should it not feel 'similar' to a C172, but faster? Because of the way FSX is coded, is every add-on not a 'tweaked' C172 in some form?

The thing I like about it is that I can run nearly all the detail sliders right up, fly over some pretty frame intensive terrain with lots of layered clouds and it looks silky smooth - no jumping. Lotus has done a very impressive job with the coding to pull that off.

Nick
