Aeroplane Heaven Hawker Typhoon Released

As with all things Roger there are compromises. We have added a low vis prop to the slow prop routine to aid with transitions. FSX is nothing short of brutal with how it handles props. When reversing the torque to give right swing, the props also have to be altered. We lose the more subtle effects we had because FS can't handle contra rotation very well. When we get a bit of time we are going to look at the whole prop issue in FS/P3D and see if we can come up with a solution for more realism with counter-clock props.:engel016:
Baz. You may also want to take a look at the gun sight reticule. When that is turned on the gun sight glass perimeter looks odd against the background of the prop.

@IanP : B7LG is just what I needed to log some test flight near action areas.
But I don't get Airfields layout as I see it in your screenshots. Is there a way or
photoscenery makes that impossible ? Thank's.

Photoscenery will always overlay terrain polygons, unfortunately, so what you see is what you get... However, it does show nicely how I placed the layout based on the underlying fields - the memorial to B.7 ALG is on the field boundary to the left of your image, near the curve of tents on the perimeter.

The only way to prevent that happening is to create a "fake photoreal" or a modelled polygon for the aerodrome backdrop. I can do that, but it takes a significant amount of time and effort.

Cheers,

Ian P.

Warhorse..

I added the Typhoon library first followed by B7LG then Q1CF so currently.. Q1CF is priority 1, B7LG is priority 2 and the Typhoons are Priority 3. It should still work as Ian suggested though.

Lets compare notes...

IJP_QLAQ, IJP_Q1CF, IJP_Scenery and IJP_FSX_Library were installed previously and have priorities 19, 20, 21 and 22, respectively.

IJP_B7LG and the Typhoons were installed yesterday. At the moment per your order B7LG is priority 1 and the Typhoons are Priority 2. Still, the Typhoons do not appear.

Since the Typhoons are only associated with B7LG, I did not think they were related in priority to the other IJP scenery addons. Can someone confirm?

I thought I had my scenery addons figured out, but guess not. :banghead:

AFAIK Warhorse.. B7LG is the only scenery to call the Typhoons so I can't.. of the top of my head.. see why they're not displaying. They're nothing to do with traffic being scenery objects so they should be there. I'll think some more.

In the meantime..

My goodness.. these things are hard to latch on to. Will have to look at the traffic file to see what speed they're programmed for but at the moment, the closing speed of the Typhoon is much faster. I think it'll be easier to bomb where they're coming from:biggrin-new:

Works for me, just added the Tyhpoon bgl to the B7LG scenery folder and the Typhoon texture folder into the main B7LG folder, bobs your uncle, typhoons :applause:

Hi Dave ! What engine flames effect are you using for the flying bomb V1?

It's the Samantha Downes model from Simvi (amongst others) and the effects are the ones that come with it. Strangely, I didn't already have them in my effects folder (expected an overwrite that didn't happen!!). fx_afterburner.fx and fx_afterburnerflame.fx.. both dated 08/09/2003/13:42 ;)

Show off. :biggrin-new:

Here's what's happening. First, I've installed the Typhoon several different ways as mentioned in other posts. I can tell that FSX is finding the bgl files as the database is redrawn whenever I change the *.bgl location and reload FSX.

I'm using the FSAddOn jeep (from their Waco collection) to explore the scenery. Once loaded I can see the scenery just fine. All the tents, vehicles, barrels are there but no Typhoons. Just baffling.

Not a major issue, I guess. Just disappointing. Something must be different with my setup or FSX install that is keeping the Typhoons from being shown.

Still haven't figured out what the guid.txt file is all about or if its needed. Regardless, I'm still enjoying the AH Typhoon and practicing my landings (ugh!).

The GUID.txt file is for info only and not really needed. Sometimes, they're a little more informative and will show the model concerned but in this case, we know it's for the Typhoon so the 'extra bits' aren't needed. I don't know what density (scenery complexity) Ian set for this scenery or what level is needed in order for the Typhoons to show. That's the only thing I can think of for their 'no show'.

That's a distinct possibility. I usually set everything to "normal" when I'm placing objects (which also upsets some people, who not unreasonably want to turn stuff off) - I'm just checking what I've set them to as I type...

...They're set to "Normal", the same as everything else in the scenery.

To quote a Minecraft villager, "Hmm!"

When it comes to object libraries, because they're not drawn "before" or "after" anything else (unless there are duplicate GUIDs/libraries) then priority has no effect. You can put them at priority 1 or priority 100, with your scenery at 50 and they will still work, simply because they're being loaded and called into a scenery, rather than loaded to draw over another scenery. I always put my object libraries just above the default scenery, below pretty much everything else.

I had the same problem as you - and tried all the suggested solutions - but no go.
The fix that did work for me was to was to delete, re-download, and re-install IanP's airfield and referenced library and Fulbert's Typhoon.

Hope that works for you.

jankees

I agree - nice model - and a Nice Repaint of HF-L.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I got it working. Typhoons are now on base.

Installing the Hawker Typhoons in their own scenery directory did not work, regardless of priority. Moving the scenery and texture files over to the B7LG folders did not work.

On a hunch, I installed the Typhoons in the Global scenery and texture folders. And bingo. I got Typhoons. Go figure.

Lesson learned. :encouragement:

This great aircraft is on my to get list once the car registration is out of the on the 17th of this month, unless I win Powerball in the meantime.

All vendors now have the Service Pack. A re-install is necessary as the SP covers a lot of the pack. Also included is a revised paintkit and a bonus livery - a colourful "sharknose" theme.

That shark doesn't look fierce so much as surprised!:untroubled:

I came across a couple of interesting interviews/presentations given by the very affable pilot of
"Pulverizer II" (and "Pulverizer I, II, and IV"), Flt.Lt. Harry Hardy.

The first links are to his presentation in 2006 to a small group of fellow pilots about his Typhoon time
flying the "Pulverizers" and includes his own photos and a Radio Canada interview done when he was flying ops in Holland.

The last link is to an interview he gave in 2012 and includes both his Typhoon time and his experiences leading up to that.
