AH Hawker Hurricane MK1 Released 5/2

I've switched to every model, even to the GPS which is awful in a vintage bird, nothing happened to the textures, AT ALL.

I find this ongoing AH-bashing very very disturbing.

Clearly something wrong with her install, but she doesn't attribute that particular problem directly to Aeroplane Heaven. Elsewhere in the video, I don't think she's AH-bashing so much as expressing her own opinions. What's the point in doing a review if you're not going to say what you think ?
I wonder if the silver showing through the paint on the fabric-covered rear fuselage is meant to represent the silver dope showing through ? Or was that not used under camo paint ? I don't know.

I'm hoping 'Into The Blue Simulations' will do a more thorough examination.

Silver weathering on wooden/fabric parts are obviously an issue. It shouldn't have happened, there are also some mistakes in other repaintings but this is different story. Her video also shows mismatched fuselage elements through which the interior of the plane can be seen. As usual, it needs a patch.

But the pilot looks really nice (although there is also a headphone offset here).

Thanks a lot for this Dutch Hurry, Jan Kees ! :encouragement:

Do you perhaps know where it was stationed ?..

Thanks!

Yes, well *I* am a fan of Avangel (although i can't hear half of what she's saying because she talks waaay too fast (for a non-native English speaker anyway) but she's *no* fan of AH. IMHO she's not bashing AH per se she's just not a fan of this particular, almost iconic FS vendor ( i remember AH's first 'photoreal' 2D panels for, what have you, FS5/FS95/FS98, which i did like very much). If you watch her reviews for AH aircraft models you can't help getting that 'no fan' impression.

Example : when the very nicely done typical 1940's RAF fuel truck appears for the first time in Avangel's Hurricane review she doesn't even spent *one* word on it, instead she focuses on the Hurricane's external textures, zooms in on the camouflage pattern edges and says "that looks low resolution". Yes, because it needs to look 'sprayed on', no sharp edge there, ma'am... She then wonders how that's possible because the screenshots look very pretty. Yes, showing the whole model, not zoomed in on the canouflage pattern edge, ma'am... she then continues to say that she's not a fan of the very shiny camo paint finish... The finish on all external textures of *my* AH Hurry copy look precisely as it should be, almost matt... ( btw, i wouldn't mind if some repaints would become available with an eggshell finish...)

In ending, she also hates the big yellow and white warning labels on the port cockpit canopy wall with words like awful, horrible, ugly, i don't like it. Well, it's just the first thing you'll see when entering a real Hurricane cockpit, ma'am...Safety you know... About the engine sounds she only says that "they aren't awfull but something feels off, i don't know....". And that concerns one of the best engine sounds AH has ever produced IMHO. This Merlin sound suite can compete with the best outthere sofar. Would've been the correct thing to say but no, Avangel is no AH fan..per se.. I'm still a fan of her though.

For what it's worth, on the other hand, i'm very happy with my copy of AH's Hurricane, modeling, textures, flight model (need more flying) and particularly the engine sounds ! Well done AH ! 👍

As most people have only ever heard a Merlin from the outside, I think they expect it to sound the same inside the cockpit, which is unlikely. I had my doubts about the interior sound of Flying Iron's Me-109G, until I was pointed ( by Bomber 12th IIRC ) to a video recorded inside a restored airworthy one. Inside and outside, the sounds were quite different, so a lesson learnt there.

I like AvAngel, but rather than a reviewer, she's more a user who just gives general overall impressions. That's sometimes enough for me, but Into The Blue Simulations is my main source of 'shall I buy it' reviews.

@jankees no negative criticism intended at all, I know about your colour blindness, but please allow me to make two remarks about that gorgeous Belgian repaint.

  • IMHO the red in the Belgian roundels is a bit too bright
  • The background of the Thistle insignia is too bright too (I think it should be about the same colour as the fuselage) and the thistle itself is too bright.
I know, that is actually three remarks.

As for the circle of the insignia, there's two "thought schools". The first one says it's red, the second one says it is green, like in the First World War.

I'll go back now to uploading your stuff to the MSFS repaint section!

Too bright, the red? What are you talking about, red is never bright? Oh wait, colorblindness strikes again.
As for the thistle, I've also seen pictures with blue circles....I think...
