AH Mossie

Hi guys,

I've been eyeballing the AH Mossie for some time. Does anyone have it? How is it? All comments appreciated!

Dave

Hi Dave.

I have the Just Flight version and love it.

The only issues I've encountered are excessive load times with the VC when I had it on my older and slower machine. (This seems to be common with some of the later AH a/c like the P-38 and the Lanc).

I've had my FS9 version for some time. I reinstalled both the FS9 and FSX versions when I got my new machine. The new machine and video card eliminated the long load times on the VC.

There are lots of additional repaints. You may want to swap the sounds if you get it, but overall its a great product.

What an interesting coincidence - and I don't believe in coincidence, as a rule. I had one JF Mossie (Mk XVI 692 Sq) out for an extended flight today. Excellent handling characteristics with the aircraft. I would agree re: the sounds - they are passable right out of the base pack but if possible I'd work on replacing them with a good twin-Merlin sound. Regarding the VC - the comments are spot-on, it takes a little bit for the VC views to load, not excessively long but enough to be a bother. I've noted some blurries with the exterior views (spot), that can be fixed by zooming in close, then back out. Another way to fix that is to look outside in VC view, then quickly move to spot view and the exterior textures will look crisp and sharp. You've got to figure out which way the 2D and VC cockpit switches go (on or off) as that's not explained very well, at least from what I can remember of the instructions, and "on" may be "up" with some and "down" with others.

I agree with the above. But the AH Mossies just haven't caught on with me like a Spitfire does.

This is a very nice sound pack I use on my Mossie...

FS2004/FSX Twin Engine Rolls Royce Merlin Sound Pack. Designed for use with Just Flight's Mosquito and the FSX DH Hornet and Sea Hornet by Rob Richardson. Created by Gary Jones.

The AH/JF Mosquito is a great model, especially the VC is very nice. As with most AH/JF models the model uses a large amount of textures and most of them are in 32bits. It might help to reduce loading times when these are converted to dtx3.

Cheers,
Huub

Thanks Huub. When I was still on my 10 year old comp, that's what I did for the AH Spitfire XIX that I kept installed.

Just tried the sounds that Stuart recommended. Very nice indeed (but I used them on a Seafire)
