Alabeo Piper Tomahawk released

Getting back on the subject:
I got it last night and must say that in my opinion, this is the nicest plane that Alabeo has put out.

A few nice effects included: Wind rush noise when the window is opened ( I am using Accu-feel )
With the sun at the right angle, the windshield looks like it's made of old weathered plastic
Taxi lights and navigation lights come on automatically with the instrument lights.

For someone who is just starting in FSX, this is an excellent plane to learn in.
For someone who has been using Flight simulator for over 10 years like me, it's perfect to just take a low and slow flight for an hour.

The textures are some of the best I've seen. I highly recommend it.

As a product owner I shall reiterate....

Its actually quite nice. See above assessment of features and bugs.

I'm confused now. Is this about the WACO or the Tomahawk? And if it's the latter, I can't find mention of any bugs anywhere.

That was my point, Roger. How can one complain about a car, or a boat, or an airplane in the sim or a mother-in-law, until one actually own one! I am lost on this one! LOL!

So far the only one i've seen is the Aussie trainer...

VH-XGZ on the fuselage, VX-XHZ on the wing...

Looking forward to purchasing very soon. Just am out of funds at the present time. I really love all Alabeo stuff. Very nice looking aircraft.

A fix has been made for VH-XGZ (Texture 3).
Available at Aussiex , was done by Richard Luycx.
Works perfect.

I wonder if its the summer heat getting to people...not sure where everyone is geographically - but its a hot summer here (such as they are in San Diego anyway...coastal mind you...5 blocks from the sea but I digress)

I am hoping to acquire the little Hatchet as soon as funds allow - I have all the Alabeo planes as they are quite good in form and function - especially since the FDE's have been done (or redone) by Mr Stolle
So reasonable in price - so easy on frame rates and so on, I don't know why anyone would pass on them - its just a simulation after all, hell I go looking for planes that offer these benefits and usually have to sacrafice detail and fidelity

With Alabeo I can fly in all FSX weather with minimal loss in FPS -
they can't all be sunny days

Wonder why they needed another three bucks for this one? I was perfectly happy with $19.95.

I think this one is worth the extra $3.00

If this were a Carenado plane instead of an Alabeo model, it would probably be going for around $35.00.

I know what you mean...I think their work has been under priced though - to be honest, but I'm not a painter - the brush and palette set seem to almost despise Alabeo if that word isn't too strong..

Since I started this: Put up or shut up so I put up. One more "very sweet". I did a few stalls, all the usual configurations. I'm happy. I've never flown a real one so no comment beyond that. Money well spent. :wiggle: :medals:

Artists do not hate them...

repainters do.... well, the 'i have to have a paint kit or it ain't happening' repainters do at least.

I really haven't found anything bad with carenado or alabeo's textures. Sure, more recent carenado ones have been quite broken up, but still more than doable. Alabeo's ones are actually really well laid out, great textures...

Painting a flat white aircraft isn't difficult, This tomahawk is really easy in its layout, the staggerwing was too...

The problem is some repainters don't know the techniques to use to paint on this sort of template, slapping colour between layers is different to using blends and building colours.

I have a repaint request for the Alabeo Tommy. It's fictional as I don't own one in real life, and the New Zealand CAA registration markings are not assigned to any current real world aircraft. As there is a dearth of FSX scenery for Ontario - my home base - I've chosen to invest money into the ORBX New Zealand scenery packages (which I can give a ringing endorsement), so I'd love to have a Tomahawk painted up in one of my favourite colour combos - midnight blue and silver:

I came across this particular PA38 on a YouTube video. I believe it's based out of Baltimore and i was quite taken with the scheme:

These are the colours I have in mind:

In the first pic there's a red or reddish stripe. Think with the midnight blue and silver that a burgundy stripe would look nice. Also, the silver area in the second pic is not polished metal but silver paint. The prop spinner, however is polished. The rear fuselage would carry the CAA registration code ZK-RNH (RNH being the initials of my dad who introduced me to a lifelong love of flight - he'd been an airframe mechanic on Lancasters in the RCAF both during and after WW2) in the same size and italicized style.

Thank you,

N.
