I suppose that if Alphasim didn't seem to exhibit some degree of Aspergers syndrome these days there wouldn't have to be a diy fix. They seem to have become a tetchy bunch at least and as one of Britain's newest recruits to the redundancy party I won't be wasting meagre savings on this, pretty as it looks.
 
I have a question to the Tech-Guru`s here - is it possible to add prop-reverse ? I read that the Albatros have it and was able to move backwards.
 
You should be able to trigger it by altering this parameter in the cfg

[propeller]
nnn
nnn
prop_reverse_available = 1
minimum_on_ground_beta = 1.0
minimum_reverse_beta = -14.0

Change the above and that should give prop reverse. There wont be any levers for this I dont think in the VC, but push and hold F2 should trigger it, I've not tried it, just theory only, there may also need to be ammendments in the *air file as well.

There are two sets of triggers that have to be set in order to have prop reverse. The firzst set is table #1511 in the airfile. You'll need to use aired to edit it but you can download that easily.. Set the first entry to true by clicking on it, next click on each of the two entries below that and enter the data that michael provided. Save the file and then modify the aircraft.cfg file the way michael explained.. Dont add the "nnn" entries. You should be set to go..

I`ll have to wait and see what Michael can do - he has definitvely more

Trust me, Pam is far more experianced on fixed wing LOL, I just meddle with helos, that just happen to float, hence my fiddlings above.

Section 1511 I think is related to jet engine only, a lot of the 1500 section appeared after FS2002 or something so there quite new parameters, if it were in the air file then I'd expect it to be in the much older prop sections somewhere.

I dont have the Albatross so much of my fiddlings are blind so I dont hold out much hope of fixing reverse thrust, I dont have the air file and I wont ask for a copy, those files are generally held tight to the product and its owners, it'd be professionally wrong of me to mess in the air file, cfgs are different as they can be edited by anyone with notepad or word.

Your best bet is Alphasim or a prop specialist like Fliger and others of his ilk. Going by the silence on the above issues I think the latter are your best option, which is a shame as the screen shots make it look like a respectable package and its priced well, just cant understand why theres no CC help for people who want to personalize there ride.

Did you say reverse pitch is on the real aircraft ?, in which case that surely falls into a bug report, you could try Alphasims ticket system and see if it gets any response.

I will have a quick look shortly and see what gives, but the pressure should really be on As to sort, not 3rd party people poking around, if it can be done in the cfg then all good and well, if its in the air file then I'm not going there, hope you understand.

Addendum 1511 is propeller reverse, not jet. Oddly the King Air 350 has no 1511 but backs up nicely, F2 seems to only work on jets and turbo props, as yet to find out how to trigger reverse pitch key commands for props, maybe you can only do it from a VC lever ?.
 
Req to Painters

Could I please req one of the painters here to please paint a USCG Hu-16 # 7245 Miami with walk ways black please. #7245 now sits as a static display in a musuem and her last duty station before retirment was Miami. Here is pic of her but when she was stationed from Brooklyn.

Indeed, but it still wont back up which is blessed frustraiting !, I tried the Beta P-61 which Fliger did, that does have reverse pitch and that wont back up either, and it does have section 1511.

Dirk, you can cut and paste lines into the air file, just open an air file with the line you want in, copy to clipboard, then in the one you want, paste from clipboard.

As an exercise I tried to add reverse thrust to the Goose, it just doesn't go, in fact I've yet to get any piston prop to reverse, can it even be done ?.

I've gone as far as I can I'm afraid, it'll need someone cleverer that me LOL.

Thanks for the tip Michael - i remember that the Invader from Bomber_12th have Prop-Reverse in FS9. Will look how he managed this.

The AS Caribou and Neptune both can do that.

Bought the Albatross while I am still waiting for the Catalina (Hey, I only preordered it nine months ago; could have gotten a kid in the same time!); despite some small issues I really like it! :applause:

In FSx ?, I think both of those FDEs were done by Jay (since departed for pastures new), again two aircraft I dont have in my collection. Do you know what the key commands are to trigger reverse prop, or do you need to use VC levers ?.
