alpha b-24j issues

SOH-CM-2025
I try to do a free flight, get the engines started ,full throttle and just as I pull back on the stick the engines die!:banghead:
Any ideas

I only have the Virtavia FSX version, but does yours have the [piston engine] section in your aircraft cfg. file? If so, post it and I'll see how it compares to mine.

Josh
Interesting. I don't know enough about the .cfg file but there is no piston or propeller in it.
Wonder if I could take a .cfg file from a stock b-24 and use it??

FS04/FSX style [piston engine] is not used in CFS2.

I beg to differ. This modified section is taken from my "stock" Corsair:

[piston_engine]
power_scalar = 1.10
cylinder_displacement = 205.821429
compression_ratio = 7.5
number_of_cylinders = 18
max_rated_rpm = 3700
max_rated_hp = 3200
fuel_metering_type = 0
cooling_type = 0
normalized_starter_torque = 0.033
turbocharged = 1
max_design_mp = 54
min_design_mp = 9
critical_altitude = 29500
emergency_boost_type = 1
emergency_boost_mp_offset = 10.000000
emergency_boost_gain_offset = 47.660000
fuel_air_auto_mixture = 0
auto_ignition = 0
max_rpm_mechanical_efficiency_scalar = 1
idle_rpm_mechanical_efficiency_scalar = 1
max_rpm_friction_scalar = 1
idle_rpm_friction_scalar = 1
emergency_boost_duration=600.00000

And mind you, in the sim, the flight model answers to every entry of this section. Been at this for years. I also added a corresponding Propellor section to complement these power settings:

[propeller]
thrust_scalar = 1.432
propeller_type = 0
propeller_diameter = 13.33
propeller_blades = 3
propeller_moi = 53
beta_max = 65
beta_min = 15
min_gov_rpm = 405
prop_tc = 0.01
gear_reduction_ratio = 2
fixed_pitch_beta = 30
low_speed_theory_limit = 80
prop_sync_available = 0
prop_deice_available = 1
prop_feathering_available = 0
prop_auto_feathering_available = 0
min_rpm_for_feather = 700
beta_feather = 88.5
power_absorbed_cf = 0.9
defeathering_accumulators_available = 0
prop_reverse_available= 0
minimum_on_ground_beta= 0.000
minimum_reverse_beta= 0.000
rotation = 1

These settings, combined with a rock solid dp and corrected guns dice, makes my stock Corsair a legend around Bearcat Hangars and the scourge of the IJN :biggrin-new:

P.S. Feel free to sample...:wink:

Highpockets,

The Alphasim setup is very confusing. Try these...

Thanks Rami
That fixed it.:applause:
I live in an Independent Retirement community and the veterans here are having a meeting in December. The guy who is making a presentation was a navigator in a B-24J in the Pacific and I am going to demo for him and the others the sim with the B-24J. I also will demo the B-26 Marauder as a bombardier on one in the ETO lives here as well. :jump:
I will put it on a big screen TV. Should be COOL.:biggrin-new:
Yes they are 95 and 96 years respective and two sharp fellas.:adoration:

I've tried it and it doesn't work. CFS2 doesn't have those key with in the sim1.sim or any of MODULES .dlls. Using the code is nothing but a placebo effect.

Allen,
I have to agree with Bearcat. I put his entries into your F6F-3 Hellcat and got an increase in performance. Went from 353 mph at 1,000 ft to 373 mph. Overall, the aircraft accelerates better, climbs faster and just works better. I have no idea why, it just does. I also got similar results in the DB Corsair and the Alpha P-47D. Same engine and essentially the same propeller. As I said, don't know why. I'll leave that up to Bearcat's "magic".

:biggrin-new::biggrin-new::biggrin-new: ....placebo...now that's funny right there...

Sorry for your trouble Allen. Guess its just my magic touch that wakes up the "sim1.sim or any of MODULES .dlls"

I tested again. Only

[piston_engine]
power_scalar = #.#

[propeller]
thrust_scalar = #.#
rotation = #

work.

The rest looks to be SnakeCode™. I tested number_of_cylinders, max_rated_rpm, max_rated_hp, max_design_mp, emergency_boost_type and emergency_boost_gain_offset for [piston_engine] and it dose nothing.

min_gov_rpm and gear_reduction_ratio for [propeller] also no effect.

I can only guess that you have a later CFS2 that has the FS2004 code or your falling for the SnakeCode™.
