I was thinking about buying this plane are there any good repaints for this bird?

I'm the proud and happy owner of AlphaSim's Cat. She's a nicely modeled lady and a great flyer, too. I'm not sure how many repaints are out there since I only have six (four for the amphib and two for the flying boat) all either US Navy and US Air Force. I think I grabbed them as AVSim, but I'm not sure. If you do a search on Flight Sim, you may be able to get a good idea of the selection available.

I also have the Abacus version which is very nice, too. Their version is 'civilianized', ie no guns. I have six repaints, all military plus one as a California fire bomber. I know there are other civilan repaints available.

My preference is for AlpaSim's Cat due to product loyalty and I prefer the war-time versions, but I think you'd be quite happy with either one.

I just did a search for PBY Catalina (modern military) and there are 30 repaints for AlphaSim, Abacus, and Mike Stone's versions. Looks like a good mix of civilian and military. So good, in fact, I think I'll do some downloading.

The AS PBY is one of my favorites.

There are several good repaints available. I have four additional military ones, and there are a few more fantasy ones as well.

The only challenge you might encounter is finding a good sound set. I think the stock a/c aliases the DC-3 sound set (correct me if I'm wrong) which is not robust enough for this type of a/c.

Trev Morson has made a very nice DC-3 (P&W) sound set. Would greatly fit the Cat.

I listed the wrong section at FlightSim. I found 30 repaints in the Warbirds sections, but there are 10 more in the Modern Military section, too.

Feng, thanks a bunch for the link. I'm on my way there now.

I'm using Trev Morson's sound set, too. I also use it with the Default DC3 and MAAM's excellent models.

I took her out for a spin! :jump: I have to get used to bird. The PBY is harder to turn (then GA, Warbirds ect...) and landings require more time since ther is no flaps. But still great fun.
 
sorry , im normally over at the fsx forum, yep that older site is dead, ive lost contact with the guy who runs it

i no longer have it handy but i think i might have uploaded those paints to avsim, but im not sure even thou thats no help right now,
