Alphasim/Virtavia B-2 Spirit now freeware!

the B-2 is pretty odd, from what i can make out theres a white position light in the upperside and underside of each wing just inboard of the nav lights as well as one at the middle 'tooth', strobes seem to be in usual location (inboard with the white pos. just aft of Wingtip Nav Lights), Taxi light on nose gear and landing lights on each of the mains (it seems)... no sign of the rotating beacon light....
Yep, that's what I figured...

Here is what I put together late last night. Might need a few tweaks.
[lights]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=Logo
light.0 = 3, -24.794, -77.566, 0.587, fx_navredm ,
light.1 = 3, -24.794, 77.566, 0.587, fx_navgrem ,
light.2 = 1, -24.794, -77.566, 0.587, fx_shockwave_strobe_sm ,
light.3 = 1, -24.794, 77.566, 0.587, fx_shockwave_strobe_sm_3 ,

light.4 = 3, 13.142, 0.00, 7.489, fx_navwhih ,
light.5 = 4, 00.00, 21.924, -0.78, fx_vclighth ,
light.6 = 4, 00.00, -21.924, -0.78, fx_vclighth ,
light.7 = 4, 23.00, 00.00, -0.78, fx_vclighth ,
light.7 = 4, 17.133, -5.761, -3.366, fx_vclighth ,
light.8 = 4, 21.938, 00.00, 4.708, fx_vclighth ,

light.10 = 3, -24.794, 77.566, -0.85, fx_navgrem ,
light.11 = 3, -24.794, -77.566, -0.85, fx_navredm ,

light.12 = 1, -24.794, 77.566, -0.85, fx_shockwave_strobe_sm_2 ,
light.13 = 1, -24.794, -77.566, -0.85, fx_shockwave_strobe_sm ,

light.14 = 5, 32, -1, -6.7, fx_shockwave_landing_light
light.15 = 5, -2, -20.3, -5.4, fx_shockwave_landing_light_double
light.16 = 5, -2, 20.3, -5.4, fx_shockwave_landing_light_double

...and you will need the usual entry for landing lights in the panel.cfg.

I now have the upper part of the B-2 pretty well covered in near black stealth coating. Have to redo the walkway outlines on the out wing parts, and have to do all the detail stenciling on the inner wing/fuselage area, and have to recoat the control surface parts. But the bird is looking quite sinister in near black. Some screenies. Daytime on the tarmac, dusk just after lift off, and night cruising for altitude.

Will continue to chip away at this bird until I have the paint kit done.

Oh...the B-2 sounds by Mike Hambly that I mentioned in a previous post....they ROCK!

I really like the dark grey/black paint on the model, OBIO... Looks very convincing and also, like it belongs there. :applause::applause::salute:

An update on the B-2 work....I have been giving the walkway markings some thought and did not like the way I did them originally. I used the brush tool to basically paint them on....so if I wanted to redo the blue/gray scheme, I would have to redo the walkway markings. So I am redoing the walkway markings using the raster tool....that way they are sharper and can be easily recolored for various schemes.

Will continue to chip away at this bird as I have time to do so....will be spending another 45 minutes or so on her tonight...then to bed with myself....2 work days down, 4 more to go.

OBIO

The upper wing walkway areas are now all redone in raster format. Next will be all the stenciling on the upper inner wing areas. Then work will begin on the bottom of the aircraft and the flight control surfaces.

This morning I got all of the flight control templates done and got the near black sprayed onto them. Now the entire upper surface (and part of the lower surface) of the B-2 is covered in super stealthy blackness. Tomorrow I will tackle all of the stenciling on the upper inner area of the plane....and some of the smaller bits from the bottom. I started on the main gear doors.....got the left side sprayed with the near black, have the cool B-2 logo redrawn as a raster image for easy recoloring for various schemes. I have the text on the door...but did not take the time to find a font type that was a match for what was used originally. I came across one called Creepy...a Halloweeny Ghostie looking font...I like it! and will keep that font on my personal Spirit...but will use a more correct font on the release version.

Hopefully, this bird will be ready for uploading by Sunday.

As for now...I have an hour to kill before I have to hit the shower and get ready for work....so I am going to fly for 30 minutes or so.

OBIO

Looking forward to it Tim!

(Flight 19 started flying the B-2 tonight over Central America)

Home from work...having a much needed (and deserved) bottle of St. Pauli Girl Special Dark beer. Then will make myself a sandwich and begin on the lower part of the B-2 while I relax a bit and allow St. Pauli to help me forget just how many of my co-workers really need slapped upside their lazy arse heads.

OBIO

Center bottom section of the B-2 is done. Bottom outer wings, landing gear doors, and some detail work to do on the top inner section. That's it....the B-2 is oh so close to public presentation.

OBIO

2:26 PM Update: The entire bottom surface of the B-2 is covered except for the forward gear door on the front landing gear area. Have to do the detail work (stenciling, add on the wing light fixtures) and paint the engine intake areas. That's it. The B-2 is nearly done. Will work on it for an hour or so after work tonight. Right now, I have to fill my water jug, load my pockets with gloves, knife, and other odds and ends of junk for work and get myself in the Veggie Packing frame of mind.

Work on the B-2 has been at a stand still for a bit....I can't find a good match for the font used on the bird. The font on the landing gear doors is the one giving me the blues. Anyone have any idea what font is used on modern USAF birds?

OBIO

the 2 most used fonts if i recall on US/USN birds are called 'AmarilloUSAF' and 'Long Beach' the latter being the USN lettering etc... sometimes you just have to get manual and redraw them.... :icon_lol: enjoy! i'm just throwing stones at a Harpoon in an attempt to knock some paint off the fuselage :icon_lol:
