  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION - ALL MEMBERS PLEASE READ

Due to an increase in the number of new members who are trying to systematically download our entire Resource Library (one new member yesterday tried to download 3,000+ files AT ONCE!) we are being forced to implement some changes regarding who can download what, how many files at a time and at what speed. As the forums and Resource Library share the same bandwidth when the Library gets overloaded with demand like that the forums fall over, as we have all seen recently. It's sad that greed has forced our hand in this way but we must do something for the benefit of all our legitimate members (many of whom paid money for the upkeep of the site) and to prevent the files stored here being used for nefarious purposes. Many of our uploads have specific conditions tied to them that forbid uploading to any other site or deny uploading to any site that has a 'paywall' (i.e. a pay to download policy). Due to the number of mass download attempts recently we can only assume that somebody, somewhere, is attempting to stock up a new file library with our files and we owe it to our up-loaders to protect their files and intellectual property especially as many (like my own LDR Development projects) are made available at SOH only and are specified as such in the 'read me' files.

The forums and Resource Library will be taken offline as of 13:00 EDT with the forums coming back online shortly after without the resources library while we work on setting up permissions on the new Library module.

We hope our members understand why we need to do this and will bear with us while we implement the changes.

    Thanks in anticipation, SOH ADMINISTRATION

Alphasim's UFO scenery/aircraft/mission pack for CFS2?

Years ago Alpha Simulations had a package for CFS2 that included a "UFO" aircraft, along with scenery for Groom Lake (Area 51), as well as two mission files for CFS2 ( http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/content.php?5645-Alpha-Simulations-Releases-Area-51-Scenery ).

You can download the freeware release of the CFS2 UFO aircraft here -> http://www.virtavia.com/Freeware/ ( http://www.virtavia.com/Freeware/ALPHA_UFO_CFS2.zip ), but the COMPLETE package is no where to be found on the Internet :(

Would anyone know of a working download link for the complete ORIGINAL package, or maybe have it lying around on your hard drive somewhere? The missions and scenery sounds like a real hoot :)

That's it! MANY THANKS! :)

I was using the Wayback Machine Internet archive, and actually stumbled upon that filename, but unfortunately they didn't have that file archived.

Again, many thanks! :)

I just realized: The ZIP didn't include the scenery files for Area 51/Groom Lake. Do you happen to have that ZIP somewhere as well? Thanks in advance :)

There's also the Avenger Flight 19 mission by Charlie Carter.

Hi Rich,

Sorry, I thought the Area 51 scenery was included. I went into my AlphaSim - Scenery archives and found everything but Area 51. Hmmmm.

I noticed that we have the FS9 version of the scenery here at SOH (ALPHA Groom Lake FS9.zip), but that one seems to crash CFS2. I did notice though that if I delete the "AF2_ATS1.bgl" file in the pack, it seems to load just fine.

That being said, I THINK that the filename would be "ALPHA_Groom_Lake_FS02.zip" for the CFS2 compatible version, judging by an archive of their web page here -> https://web.archive.org/web/20121219171804/http://www.virtavia.com/Freeware/index.php?dir=/Scenery . Unfortunately all of the file downloads there at the Wayback Machine are not archived.
