An old project brought up to date: Canso PBY-5 of SAGQ

Thanks you for the link, I will see theses repaints today.

As Ferondoe also ask me for the "workrails" UVs, I have make something in order to permanently address the problem
I managed to redo clean UVs for these two new objects and position them almost in the same place on the "ailes.png" texture at the same place where the older ones were located (that’s why we have a dark area that corresponds to the old ambient occlusion).

So it’s better to delete this black area on your files and it’s not very annoying because ambient occlusions with MSFS are created directly by the rendering engine so a priori it is no longer necessary to include them in Albedo textures.

PS: Just in the Red channel of the Comp texture and I can redo easily them in Blender by "baking AO" with the "TexTools plugin" that i use in my Blender installs.

Theses new UVs will be present in the v0.9.4 that I prepar currently and that will be released today or tomorow.

@jankees,
I love the BlackCat and in particular the matte aspect of the color. It looks to be the right texture comp for the PBY.
Just a detail: on the right part of the rudder the inscription PBY-5A is reversed.
The SNAFU version is also very successful, notably the registration on the rudder.

With a well-worked normal texture, these textures will be perfect.
For that, I use a freeware NormalMapGenerator and a special texture hich contains only the layers "rivets and lines".

I've changed the rudder markings, the rudder flipped from 0.92 to 0.93 I see.
I'm having a hard time not painting the Cat, so here's another emerging from the paintshed:

and I notice flames from the exhaust!

maybe not ideal for a Black Cat...

fun detail: A24-88 still exists, or at least large parts of it, at the Moorabbin Air Museum.

I like those twilight screenshots . Very dramatic. But it isn,t really suitable for showing off a new repaint.

Hello,

Just a word: the last version v0.9.4 has been released on French-VFR (english version of my home site).

A personal account isn't needed on French-VFR but you should use the account/password noted in the yellow lines before the link (protection against hotlink).

ChangeLog:
  • Workrails have been textured on wings texture.
  • Compas has been redone entirely (5 animations) to resolv the Heading Bug/AutoPilot problem (solved with Hollister56)
  • Vibrations added to the yokes
  • Frequency of computations for vibrations decreased (Hz: 30 => 9)
  • A "black cat" (kitten) was added in place of the "red" one in the military version (a military VC is planned for the v1.0.0)
  • Flight model amended for water take off (drag and lift for floats are decreased - files amended by Tiger1962)
  • Added apron.FLT and some amendement on others FLT files
  • Added vibrations computations and then add theses parameters to needles or control commands
  • To use a GPS Working Title, some user modifications (*) should be maded in aircraft.cfg to use the panel.WT file configurated.
(*) In the [FLTSIM.x] section of appropriate repaint, the user should modify the panel entry to use panel.WT:
Panel="\..\..\frenchvfr_canso_common\panel.WT "

Incredible.

Trial run in MSFS2024, out of KJFK.
Aircraft has tons of character, & items tucked away, such as the cat behind the FO seat:)
Cruising at 96 kts with a gentle left/right wallow going on.

Not a problem Priller.
I used Postimages.org, & from the presentation options selected the 2nd one down, which wasn't the correct one.
Can you advise which option it should have been?
Thanks

PS - For lagaffe - the gentle wing wallow may have been the ailerons moving in & out of neutral on their own. Could be my trim set up. The way it is occurring is the left wing tip dips slightly & the nose turns left slightly, then the right wing tip drops slightly & the nose heads right, then it goes left & repeats the cycle. So currently its not flying in a straight line. Doesn't bother me, adds to the charm etc, but it may confuse any ducks following along:)

I just copied the image from the link and pasted that in your post.

@Twice43,
The "gentle wing swallow" could be modified by tuning a little the roll movement, I presume; I note for the next release.

@ftl818,
The different stages of the propeller have been tuned by me and I have developed my own XML code ... but i never find the time to tune in detail the various propeller speeds (FVFR_Templates.xml: still propeller, slow propeller, blurred propeller ).
The aim of theses modifications was to have the possibility to start very slowly (during the energizer phase) and permit to the pilot to count "9 blades" before switching to the "start phase" ... I have to tune the parameters to obtain this effect; I note also for the next release.

If you're not familiar with editing BBCode, the easiest way to get your pic into the post without actually attaching it is to use the Insert Image tool. Click the icon, then click the link tab. In another browser tab, right-click the image and choose copy image link or whatever wording your browser uses. Back on the forum tab, paste that link into the image insert tool.
