And in this corner...

"Better Than Microsoft Flight Sim BY FAR! "

" This is the most complete and thorough aircraft package available. WAY MORE COMPREHENSIVE THAN Microsoft Flight Simulator Deluxe, BY FAR!!!!!! "
John Harvey - Sydney, Australia

Deluxe? Was that FS2002 Standard version?

Pretender is the right word. This has been going around for a few months. It's a freeware flight sim that's been repackaged up and offered up as payware. Save your money.

Let me see, they say they have 150+ airplanes and helicopters....I have almost 900 aircraft in 3 installs of FS9.....and I have a LOT more planes in my collection that I haven't reinstalled since my last rebuilds. Easily as many planes on CD/DVD that I could install as I currently have installed. And I don't even have CFS2 installed...and I have close to 1500 aircraft for that sim.

More scenery in FS9 than I will ever be able to see...and that is just the stock stuff. If I go adding additional scenery, then I would need another lifetime to see it all.

The entire world is represented in great detail thanks to freeware add on mesh sets.

Clouds and skies that look almost as real as the stuff I see outside.

Real time weather.

I might have a total investment of maybe $100 wrapped up in FS9...and that includes the $10 I paid for the sim on Newegg a few years ago. I own most of the stuff from TopFlightSim, a couple Razbam packages that I bought, one of Lionheart's payware packages. If I were to add in the stuff other people bought for me, the total goes up....TrackIR5 system, Lionheart's Epic LT, A2A's B-17 package, Shockwave Lights, I can't remember the guy's name who does the incredibly detailed WW1 planes...Blumenheist...some German name. Still, my investment in this sim is small...smaller than what I have seen this ProFlightSimulator advertised for...which is a shame since it can be legally downloaded for free...it is the open source FlightGear after all.

Yeah, I went thru the same mantra with my friend who gave me the link but thought it would be more "fun" to see reactions from real Simmers.:salute:

ps. didn't ya just love the detailed gauges in the F-4?

Thanks for the name Obio. I couldn't remember it when I posted earlier.

Yikes!

:pop4:The bit that got to me most:

"You can now go and visit your favourite Aunt"...now I know its a sham!

I don't have a favourite Aunt!
Just luv' em all, and certainly wouldn't want to scare their knickers off by 'bouncing' their homes with one of those 'big red and white jobs'!:gameon:

There's a Contact page where you can start support tickets with a link for those who haven't bought the product. I started a ticket with the following text:

You produce a video with lots of Hollywood-style hype, but absolutely no in-game footage. Why don't you publish in-game footage to back up your claim of being "Better" than Microsoft??? And by the way, since there are so many versions that have bee released, why not be specific as to which version yours is better than? I would hope it's better than even the latest (FSX), since you're asking more money than what FSX Deluxe Edition now costs at Amazon. If you're going to ask such a high price, you should really try harder to justify your claims!

Loathsome!

I love their video! It's all hype and not one frame of in-game footage!

Right, Tom!

It all sounds like some sleezy, out of work advertising guy who knows the ropes and is trying to make a few fast and dirty bucks.

Loathsome! I'd really love to see the whole sham esposed.

Ideas anyone?

As I recall the folks that were behind the open source FlightGear project are in fact investigating just how much or how little this rip off artist did create or not.
Depending on the outcome of that investigation legal steps are very likely next. Because just because something is made available as OpenSource doesn't mean you can just re-package and then sell for profit.

I doubt that making "tickets" will have any effect at all....it will just go into the trash folder. But
maybe it will annoy just a little each time.
