Just so you know, Nigel continues work on the xp-72 textures and the xh47h sounds while I am working on package's gauges, documentation, and miscellaneous tweaks. Tom has tweaked the xp-72 FM a bit more and I believe we are ready on that front.

Duckie has wrapped up his xp-47h textures and paint kit and that will be available very soon.

Once this is done, we will be ready for beta for the 3 aircraft.

It'll be interesting to see how the 4 blade version of the XP-72 performs in comparison to the contra prop version that Wings of Power did. I am eager to park them side by side and note the similarities... and differences. In the air.... it'll be another story. Judging from the screens posted of the beta you guys are working on.... she looks sleek and FAST! I've already ruled out racing my Seafury against her.

'Republic' developed a highly efficient four blader to avoid weight penatlies and complications of the contra setup.

BB; take it from me, my friend; she's in a class of her own - there are no rivals.
So any competition is going to be between xp-72's with pilot skill and fuel payload factors proving the winner.

For pilot skill; you guys will be beating me hands down. LOL! :wavey:

Nigel,

I forgot to tell you .... your version was a little "hot". She has since been corraled to within RW test reported data. So your competition will be the 47J, 47H, and anything else operating in the 490 MPH neighborhood. She does out climb the other two however. :)

If you like what you have, you better make a copy of it because the it may become a Classic soon. :)
 
The WoP XP-72 Superbolt performed very well and was really close to what you're putting up as far as stats. I was able to get it pretty close to the 500 mark, (about 495 MPH at 35,000 feet). Adjustments for sea level performance in mind, I think the 4 blade XP-72 model would prove just as efficient and quick.
Suffice to say the duration of that performance was somewhat limited in FS... things got pretty critical as far as the engine was concerned and since I have all the 'failures' switched on... I didn't want to have that "big fan on the front of the airplane" stop turning at that altitude...:dizzy:

I had read that the 4 blade propeller on the XP-72 was a stop-gap measure used at the time because the Aeroproducts 6 blade contra-prop was unavailable. Oddly enough... the prototype that was fitted with the contra-prop crashed during testing. IMO the full potential of the contra-prop XP-47 was never realized.

Damian Radice would be proud of what you have accomplished with the XP-47 and XP-72 "Three for Speed" pack, Milton. She's really shaping up nicely and I'm eager... (along with a host of other blokes) to go roaring into the clouds with her. :applause:

So, the 72 was expected to reach as high as 520-525 MPH GS with the intended setup. Nigel's version of that FM would achieve that. However, we are publishing the -13 engine test results with top speed at 490 MPH at critical altitude.

Hmmm...so, essentially what I 'officially have is the 'UNofficial version'.

'Nigel's version'...I rather like the sound of that.

Who knows; if my workshop crew manage to finalize the H sounds in good time, they may get overtime on 'Nigel's Reno version'.

LOL Well, I like the sounds of the Reno suped-up version. Maybe i can encourage Tom to tweak out this "what could have been" full blown turbo-supercharged "give-me-more-I-Love-It" planned engine for the racers.

You know, Nigel... I don't think there's be any reason not to 'sneak' in a souped up version... lotsa' possibilities, matey. You could jazz it up with one of your spectacular paints. RealAir did a Spitfire "Racer", why not an XP-47 or XP-72 Racer? Duckies paints fit the H model beautifully too. Nothing wrong with a "what if" plane IMO. By the way... check yer PM's whilst you're at it. :wiggle:

XP-72 is packaged and ready for beta.

Working on the XP47J now.

Awaiting sounds for the XP47H to prepare that package.

All betas will be released together once sounds are available

I will be out of town from May 4th until May 21st so it may have to wait until I return.
 
You know... I seem to be missing the wheels I had for my Carenado Cessna 185, Milton. The tailwheel on that Superbolt looks suspiciously like one of them. Nigel, you wouldn't know anything about that, would you? :biggrin-new: LOL!

But seriously... it looks absolutely SWEEEET! Sleek, fast and deadly! Can't wait to "fling" the XP-72 into the wild blue!

Thanks Gentlemen; we have been saving and planning for this for over a year so we are looking forward to it. :wiggle:

I do have the beta packages ready for upload once we have sounds available for the "H".

If I receive them in the next 3 hours, I will upload the beta releases for you. Otherwise you will see them after May 21st.
