Tony - Your namesakes from Akemo's site (Ki-61) are brilliant - as good as the ones in il-2. The Ki-84, Ki-100-1b, Ki-43-111, J1N, Ki-46's and Ki-45 too. The A6M3 and A6M2-N are good though there is no 2d panel - but that's no big deal. The Ki-44 I didn't like.
If you haven't got il-2 make sure you get the DVD compilation (FB+AEP+PF+1946) which takes you up to v4.07. Then download the free 4.08m and 4.09 - it's not essential though as the DVD version is fine straight from the box, you'll just have a few less planes and maps. However now if you want to mod you'll want at least 4.08m.
Once you've added the 4.09 update then you can also add all the freebies at the AAA site for il-2 mods; loadsa new planes and maps etc. that allows you to fly anywhere in WW2 and beyond all in one game- yep european and tropical land and sea textures all in one game. However I prefer cfs2 for the Pacific though.......
Make sure you read the instructions carefully if you're going to mod il-2 - most importantly back-up the vanilla game first, it's not designed to be modded unlike cfs2!!
