Ive been flying from my Khormaksar scenery just lately and wonder'd if there was any mesh for this region, there's nothing at Avsim-Flightsim but i did get an e-mail a while back from someone who was using some and it work'd fine, maybe he was using a payware package but i forgot to ask.
Just wondering if anyone else know's of any.

Ian that may have been me I am using a mesh that covers that area, I am using your Khormasar scenery and have placed the strips a Dhala, Habilain and Wadi Ain, will check where i got it from.
 
Ian got it off Avsim, may be difficult to get off there at the moment it is yemen01a.zip try s earch for it on Flightsim.com

not found on Flightsim.com but I hve found my origional downloads which was in 3 seperate downloads may be able to get it to you somehow, works in FSX too
 
The file on Flightsim is a package of small airports.

Edit - Avsim is still missing a few things...
 
Thanks guys, at least i know its out there. 'ill give Avsim a day or two, the file's may be caught up in there ongoing rebuilding proccess.
If all else fails Rich, is there any chane of trying to e-mail them, :wavey:

Edit; My geography is sketchy, but these might be on the other side of the Red Sea to the ones you wanted!!

Thanks Rich, ive downloaded and installed them, :jump: what a differance, took a flight around the harbour, and i'll take some trips up country later tonite,
im reading "cold war, hot wings" by Chris Bain at the moment and there's some good accounts of ops in Aden during the 60's, so im intrested in the area again, any info on strips inland would be very intresting. There should be a repaint for 8sq for the DG Hunter, there's one for the T7 but not the single seater so i'll think i'll have ago at repainting.

Thank Andy, i'll install a few of those, the RAF would oftern visit Djibouti, some maintanance work would be carried out there. someone has released some very good Djibouti airfield scenery for those hops across the red sea
 
Hi Ian, here is a screenie I did a couple of years ago of a Beverley climbing out of Dhala, as I said absolutly no buildings, no tarmac or concrete anywhere.

There is only one way in and out as you can see, the strip was made by a RAF airfield construction unit and was used by RAF Beverleys, Aden Airways DC3's and RAF Twin Pioneers.

I spent 6 weeks in Sunny Dhala in 1966 my duties included a daily trip to the airstrip to collect mail off the Bev's or Twin Pin, size of load I think being the deciding factor as to which it was, the Aden Airways DC3 was 3 times a week I think and never use more than the first 2000 ft of runway, on a busy day we had a Bev and the DC3 on the strip at the same time.

The photo does not show the airstrip but it shows our camp location = blue box, the Federal Republic Army = yellow box, the green box is Temple hill which had a resident 120mm Wombat anti tank gun perched on it, it would have had to be lifted up there by heli.

The blue line from our camp was the route to the airstrip just off pic.

The red line was roughly the path of our almost daily airshow by a low level Hunter which often removed telephone wires and antenna.
