AR196 Project in AD2K

by today's standards, mine's a slug,
but she's good enough for me.
pentium 4 3.2ghz, with 2 gb ram
built it from scratch, years ago.

Dave, what i'm saying is,
i don't see no stinkin' button.
i see no members map in the menu.
here's a screen shot...do you?
please, tell me i'm blind.

what the map is suppose to be
is a way for the members to have a look
at where we all live. that's all.
years ago, back before one of the many crashes,
there was a soh members map.
it was kinda cool

Smilo,
Click on the All SOH users line just above the forum, that brings you to the map page, then click on the map button at the top.

Dave

Just realized that once you mark your initial location, you zoom in and can get it down to city and even street number location. Gives us an idea of other simmers that may live in our area.

Dave

sounds like the old map.
pretty cool, actually.

unfortunately, i am still in deaf,
dumb and blind mode.
i see no All SOH Users line
that you mentioned.
do you see it on the screen shot?
must be my browers.
couldn't be me

oh well. i know where i live
and roughly, where everyone else is.

Hi smilo
:wavey:

You're not blind; you can read these posts.

You're not deaf; I talked to you on TS and you answered me back.

You're not dumb; ... hem... call it an educated guess.:kilroy:

In your post #301, we can see the first "M" of Member Map under the search window. Try clicking on it.

And adjust your screen...

thanks for your patience, gents.
and for your assistance.

i got a new monitor a while back
and had it set for maximum text visibility.
unfortunately, it buried part of the menu bar.

now, i need to decide whether i want to see the full menu bar
or see the posted text.
it's a simple choice, really.

jeez, Dave, we drove right by your place
a couple years ago on the way to fla.

sorry for not stoppin'.
but i didn't know you then.
hope that's a good enough excuse.

okay, enough chit chat.
back to the 196.

as i mentioned back there a bit,
No Dice has taken up the gauntlet
and is doing the textures for the 196.
(with most of the mapping done by yours truly)

i can't express how pleased i am with Dave's work.
he is doing a really fantastic job.
this has truly relieved a huge burden.
who knows, i might even put his name in the credits.

things are getting down
to the nit picky little things.
mostly, tiny little visual errors,
that most wouldn't notice,
but, make me crazy.
sorry Dave, i can't leave them alone.

i could go on into nausium,
but have decided spare you all
and say it with pictures instead.

----------------------------

one more quick thing.
for years, i've been griping
about loosing the text before making a post.
today, i lost it all again.
but this time, i went to reply to thread,
and clicked on the Restore Auto Saved Content button.
low and behold, the text came back.
SWEET!!!
many thanks to the admins for adding that feature.

just a quick note to let you know
that the marathon is coming to an end.
there is light at the end of the tunnel.

lately, i have been going through a "cut list"
of flaws and defects in the visual model.

there are a few very minor issues,
but i've decided to leave some of them alone.
true, i can see them on my 48" tv/monitor,
but they are next to invisible on my 19" crt,
so they can stay as they are.

unless something jumps up and bites me,
i can only think of one more item on my cut list.

after that, the air and dp files
remain to be dealt with.
both of these items are outside
my current capabilities...:isadizzy:

so we shall see what happens there.

hmmm, where to start...
i've decided to rebuild the fuselage, rotating it a smidge
so that there is a peak at the top and bottom.
this should take care of the texture smudging
on the upper and lower sections.
it should only take a few months to accomplish.

:stop:

NOT!!!!
maybe on the next model, but not this one.
sorry, we'll have to live with the smudging.

all kidding aside,
i am having an issue with the panel.
apparently, one of the Instrument Panel pop up windows
wants to slightly change size and alignment
when the view mode is changed,
ie, from window mode to full screen and back.
it wouldn't be such a big deal,
but the switch panel location changes
and it partially covers one of the gauges.
there is also a related, main panel/overlay alignment problem
on the left side of the panel.
i need this overlay so that the mouseable switches and gauges function.
at present, they work just fine.
it's just a visual alignment issue.
it looks like crap.
