I've gone through and made new textures for the cuffed-blade prop for each of my P-51D repaints, which I'll post once Randall releases his next update for the aircraft.

For 'Moonbeam McSwine' and 'Little Rebel', which have cuffed blades fitted in reality, the details of the stencil work, decal placement and amount of yellow prop tip paint are matched to the real world examples. For my other P-51D repaints, all of the real-world examples have the later paddle-blade props fitted, so I did things a bit differently for those. For the Blakeslee Mustang and 'Val-Halla', I chose to depict one of the more common variations of the stencils on the blades. For 'Miss Kitty', I made the props match the details of those fitted to 'Sierra Sue II' (both Mustangs were restored by the same shop). And for 'Tall-in-the-Saddle', I made the stencils match the layout and mixed font-types as seen on the paddle blades fitted to the real aircraft.

Thanks John - all downloaded and looking great !

Hi Lou, here are the majority of those which have been made for the Asobo P-51D (not including the "Novawing24" payware repaints):

I'm not seeing any pilots appear in these repaints. Asobo base models are ok.

DVJ, that means that you have Russell's P-51D Improvement Mod installed, which is a good thing. With the improvement mod installed, the pilot model is added when you click on the Amber IFF light switch on the box circled in this image (just as you can also now change between the default late paddle blade propeller and the earlier WWII-standard cuffed propeller using the Red IFF switch found on the same box).

As JT said, the pilot is "toggled" by the amber IFF switch now after many reports from users with the "stock" Reno birds not having pilots. I never could figure out why some people got pilot models and others didn't but setting it to a switch seemed the most appropriate solution.

FS has always been about community input, and these are great.
I had kept the AH one, only because it had a ZK-TAF livery.

This is now becoming an excellent model, has the soundset been reworked, it seems better than what I remember?
I do still have some issues with the tailwheel losing the plot...

And what a superb paint job:

What's the verdict on the prop cuffs? It seems quite a radical attachment for seemingly marginal airflow improvement.

As far as I know, the sounds are still as originally published. Now, I have been testing the new Echo 19 soundpack over the last few days, and OH BOY are y'all in for a treat.

Due to the way MSFS treats flight models, I can't model the different characteristics of the cuffed prop versus the paddle blades IF I keep using the same methodology for the mod. That being said, I don't feel that the performance difference between the two would be so great to necessitate the extra work load of making different "variants" of the airplane that use different engine and flight models. I'd rather focus the energy on "next steps" of the mod such as remodeling the tailwheel and improvements to systems.

Here's a couple teasers of the Echo 19 sound pack.

Very reminiscent of Tiger's fly by sounds for Il2 Sturmovik about fifteen years ago. Many thanks to all. Be nice if the LOD of the aircraft could be extended somewhat.
