Attention all DC-3 fans !

Reminds me, I have not heard back from Wigram, needed a few primary details and photos and have not heard back, I'll get onto that right away, we only have a limited time, a window, in the mornings to get the photo's before the crowds turn up at the Museum.

GMan Gordon.... Do the clean and weathered textures only effect the VC or do they result in external visual changes as well?

Carl

The clean and weathered textures affect both interior and exterior appearance of the DAK. Modifications can be achieved by pointing the .cfg file at the file you wish to use for a particular aircraft. Components can also be interchanged. Just be sure to back up your originals.

Some of you may know that I withdrew my energy from this site a couple of months ago. I have, however, been following the continuing work on the DAK vintage cockpit with the same enthusiasm as everyone else on the site.

TuFun has made modifications to my original paint kit which have improved the detail of the radials significantly. I'll add TF's changes to the paint kit and upload a new modified sheet in all of the appropriate formats for everyone to use. Note: These changes will only apply to my templates and will only affect skins that are re-submitted with the improved engine details.

Jan, your cockpit is a masterpiece. Thank you sir.

Thanks "G"... much appreciate your talents! Thanks for adding it to your paintkit. :adoration:

The hard way you mean. Enjoy my radials! :biggrin-new:

No, just another way someone showed me long time ago. Actually, not really that hard. :adoration:

You can drive to work in a VW or a Caddy they both get you to you destination. :untroubled:

Always different ways to skin a cat. :triumphant:

Is that eazy doc you use for those direct front on shots of the engines (Dead center)?

No, just another way someone showed me long time ago. OK? :adoration:

That's old news now, more advance procedures produces better results. Manfred and Gman showed me the way!

Trouble with that logic is that this Nvidia Plugin is for PHOTOSHOP. https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop

I don't own Photoshop so I have to relegate using a freeware program. Last I checked, Nvidia doesn't make this plugin for what I use.

So, all this is moot and that's just as well as I am just as comfortable using what I use as you using what you use.

AMEN. :untroubled:

I don't own PS either so for me DXTBmp works very nicely. It's quick & easy if used correctly and saves things properly in DXT5 dds format. :)

Perhaps the most wonderful thing about this thread (and SOH from what I see) is that people are willing to donate their time and talent (and treasure) to assist fellow enthusiasts in achieving their simulatory nirvana. That is a wonderful thing, and each and every person's efforts ought to be applauded- period. As one much less talented than those here, I appreciate each contribution, and salute each contributor.

Now- back to the thread's original purpose.....
Jan-waar ben je mijn vriend? Nog meer nieuws over uw prachtige project?

;)

Jan-waar ben je mijn vriend? Nog meer nieuws over uw prachtige project?

Not to worry, i'm still here, my friend. :)

Texturing takes lots of time. Since Ian provided me with his fantastic photo's of the Wigram C-47 cockpit (and still does!), i am concentrating very much on that. Creating a 3D model of something in a VC is one thing, texturing it is another... F.i. it could well happen that in the time i'll have a textured seat finished, with all its tubing and weathered/scratched up and all, someone else might've textured the entire fuselage of a 777... :ghost:

So, yes, updates of my work on the VVC will take a bit longer now. I'll do my best and can only hope the waiting might be worth it.

cheers,
jan

Jan, don't worry about the wait. Folks need something to look forward to. You certainly are full filling that need. Just seeing the advances get us all worked up. Really appreciate the efforts.

I agree!

Jan, take your time, as we all know it will be worth the wait. Doesn't mean we are not extreeeemely curious :wiggle:

Gordon- Thank-you for your response. I hope that you are able to participate actively within the SOH community once again. Reading your prior postings has been very educational for a warbird neophyte like me.

Jan- the comment in Dutch was supposed to be supportive- NOT DEMANDING... as some have misinterpreted. Thank-you for your continued efforts.

Best- Carl

Hey Jan, is that your new MG in the Avatar?

Not yet, Rob, just a reminder.. :cool-new:

Jan- the comment in Dutch was supposed to be supportive- NOT DEMANDING... as some have misinterpreted.

Of course, Carl ! Myself i don't see any misinterpretation..

To add to my texturing comment, i'm trying out various ways to peal off paint from the most vital objects that in reality will have suffered from paint abuse. As there simply are no virtual pilots and other crew to take their seats and abuse the paintwork for a couple of thousand times and more i have to peal off the paint with a sharp knife:

Just one of the many trials but i think i'm getting there more or less, about time too because i'm getting sore hands..

Further more: GOOD NEWS ! Hansi is back !! :encouragement:

He's been going thru a rough time this year ( and before), didn't hear from him for a long time and i was starting to really getting worried. Without Hansi this project would remain dead as a doornail... Can't tell you how happy i am to have recieved an email from him yesterday. We're now good and ready to breath life into this old VVC ! YIIIHAAAAA!!!! :jump:

Cheers,
Jan

Great news Jan, glad you got the email and contact from Hansi. Thanks again for the great update. The seat looks really good. We all will be watching.

MeshMan, Thanks for the link,

Now I might jump into the deep and try to get Tufun's radials on some of the repaints.

I'll make plenty of backup copies, as I'm sure gonna mess up a few times.

Jan, I can send you my steel brush to get some paint scraped off, lol (no pun intended). Always great to see status updates. Great to hear that Hansi is back in the game. It would have been a disaster seeing all your hard labor gone to waste.
