Avsim?

I was just over there, mind you its been a minute, but it seems to have taken a turn. The home page seems to be some new layout with missing links and broken articles. Am I just late to the party, or is there something going on with them ala flightsim.com?

Yep, we were forced into updating the software for the site. The Home Page is just general announcements All of the old "Articles" are gone.

For some reason, the avsim library seems broken when searching for files. for example if you searched "tds 767" youd only get results of tds 767's. now if you do that search, you get a combined result of 767s from everyone and tds planes that arent 767s. its incredibly frustrating
 
Has it allready been mentioned, that the Search engine is a total mess and Avsim became unusable through the upgrade?

If searching for a particular file, theres everything else but the file youā€™re looking forā€¦ totally fā€™d upā€¦ totally nonsenseā€¦
also the File previews have vanishedā€¦ which i would have loved to haveā€¦

In my honest opinion, Avsim Library was much better before the Upgradeā€¦ the Upgrade destroyed avsim totaly. Very sadā€¦
And in my honest opinion i donā€™t get it why things need to be fixed that workā€¦ or if it ainā€™t broken, why fix it?

Allthough it is now broken, i would really appreciate if the library would be reorganizedā€¦ so that we can find the files more easily and eventually readd the file preview function again.

The file previews were a nice-to-have but I can live without them; i never really have problems finding what I want there, or at Simviation ..... here at SOH is another matter. šŸ˜… As Sbob says, we have to live with the tools we have.
 
Having never perused their forum, I was unaware of those changes. What I've noticed in recent times is that AvSim could change it's name to AIsim. Almost everything I see on the download pages are AI planes, paint jobs for AI planes, AI flight plans, with hardly any scenery or flyable planes. Of course that's not a management issue; it's just that this is what the users are putting up there.

I would love to volunteerā€¦ if i can help to add something to it, i would love to contributeā€¦ I am no programmer or internet / Website Designer or Crackā€¦ but if thereā€™s any solution to re-organize the Library, i would love to help in thatā€¦ as many people as there are to help with that, as quick it can be done i thinkā€¦ so if you can bring together a team, iā€™m in for it.
 
Sorry, there is no team for the Library. The "Libraian" does the work. The Site owner put out a request about 2 years ago seeking a memebr to fill
that position and no one applied. There is a drop-down in the "Contact Us" tab that says Volunteer. Fill out the form.

I missed that thenā€¦ as i have not yet registered to the Avsim Forumā€¦ i was a user of the Library only until todayā€¦ I may also register to the Forum then to stay up to dateā€¦
