Adding the PMDG DC-6 sounds to the B-24.

If you own the fantastic PMDG DC-6 you and add the DC-6 sound package following these easy steps.

Delete the origional sound files both the Sound and the SoundAI and replace them with the PMDG DC-6 sound files of the same name.
Then run the layout.json file through the MSFSLayoutGenerator.exe. You just drag and drop it over the exe file and it will produce a new updated json file.

I would like to add a Garmin 430 to the cockpit and will see if I can figure that out?

Also, I am using a program called FSRadiopanel and I can use this program to fly this B-24 on an autopilot and it will fly a beautiful coupled ILS approach.

Has anyone figured out how to get the cowl flaps to work? I can get # 3 to open and close, and the switch moves with a keybind, but it doesn't seem to affect the CHT at all, open or closed. Also the oil temperature gauges do not work?

Same problem here. I've also noticed that the MP needles on two of the engines lag the other two when throttling up. There's a long way to go with it, but it's a lovely model and a good foundation for a community-led development project.

"a good foundation for a community-led development project"

I completely agree on this point.
This aircraft has the merit of existing but ... this port was carried out too quickly and there are plenty of details that deserve to be deepened or even improved.
The cooling of the engine so that it is well reflected in the gauges and A: variables of the simulator, requires that all the parameters of the engine.cfg file be correctly entered. If values are wrong or forgotten this can explain what Hollister56 has been noticed.
This aircraft would be an ideal base to design a B-24 worthy of its name (besides the DC-4 too ... IMO)

I agree Lagaffe, hopefully more people with the talent to do so will jump and improve this B-24.

Try these engine.cfg settings. I am getting 200C CHT in cruise and just under 70C oil temperature. I ran it at 4500 feet for about 30 minutes. See what you get? I don't understand the MP split with engines 1&4 and 2&3? Opening cowl flap #3, the only one that works has no effect on the CHT. Small things for sure. I really am enjoying this cool B-24. I wonder if other's here on SOH are enjoying this B-24. It actually flys very well, especially for a port over from a bygone era.

Greetings @Hollister56 and friends,
Ever since way before fs2024 became available I have sooo missed not having the B24 to once again enjoy.
In FSX I'd fly from Darwin, through the PNG mountains to bomb & straff Laye. Often at over 200knots and only 30 feet above the ocean.
To do so, I'd 'cheat' by tweeking the altimeter setting to think I was still at 100 feet.
Have just downloaded the port-over (FSX>>FS2020) update fix, and look forward to further advances.
Any suggestions as to how/where I may obtain a better engine sound set (freeware), and how to install please?.
What's the feasability of having animated bomb etc doors, as well as gunners and all of the engine cooling flares to work?.
And finally having actual bomb-drop control onto targets?.

Really enjoying seeing the interest here in getting the B24 further absorbed into fs2024.
Well done to all involved, and a HUGE Thankyou !! :)

Did you get it working in FS2024? Can you load it up and fly it?

If you've got the pmdg dc-6 you can use that soundset.
And it works fine in fs24 😀
You are right and the PMDG DC-6 is a must have in everyones hangar. It's worth every penny and an iconic airplane. I thank PMDG daily for releasing such a fine model for us to fly. It actually flys very well in FS2024 with just a copy and paste into the FS2024 Community folder. It will be even better when they finish their FS2024 conversion. Not sure when, but the sooner the better.

Agreed 100%. In some ways, it was the add-on that persuaded me to buy MSFS2020 in the first place. Still one of the best add-on aircraft ever produced, and hopefully the FS24 version will soon be with us.

We are plugging away at a few more improvements to the B-24 Repack. I've got the cowl flaps working in my "branch" of the code, and in parallel SeeRyFly is getting on with as variety of other improvements. We'll need to merge our changes together at some point and check it all works nicely before publishing the next repack update.

I agree there are plenty more details that could be improved, but I disagree it was released too quickly. This isn't payware; it was released with caveats about what was working and not - if it hadn't been released I would never have known about it and never been able to contribute to this community effort. Hopefully getting it out there in this usable-but-not-perfect state will catch the attention of more willing contributors from the community, to keep the stream of improvements coming.

Oh BTW I also added one more item I know you've all been waiting for... clickable cockpit roof curtains. Unflyable without!

Well said Flak and thank you, and to all the other forum members working to improve this pretty amazing freeware airplane. I really enjoy flying this airplane. I believe there is an example in the IWM down the street from you. There are only 2 flyable examples here in the US and one has be kind of permanently grounded. It was the most produced bomber in WW2 and is now it is one of the rarest in flying condition. I am looking forward to the next update, and once again, I apprecitate all the time and effort you guys are putting in to make this airplane even better. Having a decent flying bomber in FS2024 is about as rare as in real life. OMG
