Bell 47J Ranger NOT available in Marketplace - or is it (?)

Hello Citizens,

I am new (3 days and counting) to MSFS 2024 but not to MS flight sims - I still have FSX (and FS9!) on my PC. I would like to purchase the Inibuilds Bell 47J Ranger helicopter (aka Local Legend 14). My understanding is that this model is available exclusively through the in-game Marketplace - but I can't find it there. With or without filters. With or without enabling MSFS 2020 content. Searching online for ways to solve problems associated with Marketplace missing content has so far not been helpful.

Can someone look inside their Marketplace and confirm (or deny) that this helicopter shows up for them (or not)? I have run out of ideas over here (in Oregon).

Thank you, and good morning,

Sam

@CurlSnout , the Bell 47 is included as a standard aircraft in FS2024. That's why it's not in Marketplace. Is it not showing up in your aircraft list?

(Edit: That's a 407, not a 47, dummy. Sorry, Sam! Got my JetRanger and Ranger confused.)

Negative - The only Bell helicopters that show up in my aircraft list are the Bell Model 407 and the Bell UH-1H Huey. I purchased the 'Standard' edition of MSFS 2024 through Steam.

This is the model I'm trying to secure:

Ooooh! I was thinking the Jet Ranger. I have all of the fixed-wing Local Legends, but skipped this one because apparently one of my ancestors did something terrible to a helicopter and now they all just try to actively kill me when I fly them.

So the FS2020 Local Legends and all of the other Aviator Edition planes are being updated to native FS2024 versions (slowly; first 5 updated planes arrive in FS2024 with SU5 within the next week). My guess is that you might not see this available separately until it gets the FS2024 treatment.

Sadly, I think the only way to get it right now is with the Aviator Edition. (I assumed you skipped 2020; if you bought it for 2020 in Marketplace I'm guessing it will show up in 2024 in a day or so, but I'd get confirmation from someone here who owns it under 2024 and upgraded.)

Here's the cheapest path I can think of to get the helicopter, if you don't own 2020 and you really want it:

1) Subscribe to Microsoft Game Pass Premium at the $1-for-14-days trial price.
2) Download FS2020 and buy the Bell 47J from Marketplace there
3) The 47J should appear in your FS2024 library (possibly disabled until you enable it) within 1 to 2 days.
4) Cancel Game Pass Premium and uninstall FS2020.

If you don't forget step 4, this will let you buy the 47J for just $1 more than its normal cost. This also assumes you bought FS2024 from Microsoft and not Steam.

Really dumb to have to go through this. The alternative is to wait for them to upgrade it to 2024 native, but that could end up taking months or years.

Thanks, but I still don't have an answer to my original question. Can someone (who is running MSFS 2024) please confirm that this helicopter does NOT show up in the in-game Marketplace? I just want to make sure that my install is not corrupted somehow.

Sorry, wasn't clear above that it's not available. It's not, otherwise I'd have not gone to all the trouble to outline a path to purchase it inexpensively. :)

It's not there browsing, and if you search, it's not there:

Notice the Aviator Edition upgrade option comes up under Bell. That's because it does include this helicopter:

You would also get some other great aircraft, such as the CH-47D and the Grumman Albatross, which is IMHO the best plane in the sim. But $150 is a lot of money unless there are other planes in there you also want.

Thank you. Thanks also for conjuring a scenario in which I might still be able to get my hands on it. For now I think I will exercise patience and hope it shows up in a more conventional manner. All reports I've seen indicate that it has perfect compatibility with MSFS 2024; a shame it is only available (to some, it seems) through the Marketplace.

This was one of my favorite sight-seeing platforms in the universe of flight sims. About a hundred years ago Lasse Lindh ('Swedbird') created a wonderful model for FS9. I made a bunch of liveries (U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, Sea & Air Rescue, etc.) and had a lot of fun with it. The FS9 model still works but, of course, FS9 is a stretch removed from what MSFS 2024 offers.

Well, if you grow tired of waiting (I'd be shocked if this makes it to 2024 before mid-2027, if then), or change your mind, this method will cost $1 and about a half-hour of your time. :)

Update (sort of): I sent a message directly to Inibuilds Support, explaining that I would like to purchase this product, but it does not show up in the in-game Marketplace. They responded promptly and told me to purchase it using the in-game Marketplace.

Hi-Ho.
