Berijew BE-200 Altair

sounds about right, heres it's bigger more moody brother, the plane i'm working on... note it's accelerating on the step here..

I was hoping this one would be done too. They are both fabulous machines. I shook off work so I should be able to finish the 200 soon.

Ok I think I'm done. Here are the updated flight dynamics. As mentioned before I tried to make it fly according to specs, plus float and rotate better in the water so you can skim to pick up water about at 100.

First make a copy of the original aircraft cfg in case you don't like what I've done. Un-zip the new cfg and paste it where the original is overwriting when prompted. I'll take any feed back on this to help make it better. I tried to do justice to a great model.

Now running this bird as an airliner i.e. with auto-everything...
I find the autothrottle hunts.
With the sound set I am running it starts to sound like a dentist's drill.
Any offers on how to damp this?

Yup,

In your autopilot section of the aircraft.cfg, look for this line:

max_throttle_rate =0.10

Reduce that percentage by stages, say by .2 or so, until you find a setting you like. This line controls the speed at which the autothrottle increases or decreases. A lower value causes it to do it slower.

Now: a dentist drill that cycles more slowly! ;)
You don't think it's a thrust/drag setting?
It can't seem to shoot and hold the throttle, even though the airspeed is pretty constant.

Also, the Master Caution seems to flash persistently , what have I forgotten to close or pack away?

Are you running Aeromed202's mod .cfg?

You could try looking for this line in the autopilot section:

autothrottle_max_rpm = 90

and try reducing the value. That number is the percentage of thrust available for the autothrottle to use. If you reduce it some, it will reduce the total amount of thrust possible for the autothrottle to use. It will accelerate a little slower, and maybe not overshoot the target speed so quickly.

Just a guess, I'm no expert with FDE's, just an experimenter. Maybe someone with more knowledge than me will give a better answer.....:salute:

Many thanks Astoroth, yes I am running the mod cfg file.
I'm just surprised I seem to be the only one experiencing this?

Instead of limiting how far the throttle levers go, limit how fast the levers move. That line is here:

max_throttle_rate=0.10

0.10 = 10% travel per second. Changing that to 0.05 will cut by half how fast the autothrottle tries to make adjustments. That's just an example - start smaller and tweak it until you get an autothrottle that can keep up without "hunting."

Already had him try that one Tom, he said it still hunts, just slower. Still won't hold steady. But thanks for trying! Any other ideas?

If there are no issues appearing on the annunciator panel that explain the Master Caution light being lit, then clicking on the MC light itself will clear it. The MC light will continue to flash after all problems have cleared until it is acknowledged by the pilot. I hope this helps.

Ah, that worked.
Thanks, bit like tuning the TV with a short, sharp, shock really...

As to the throttle hunting issue:
Here it is, I think it is throttle sensitivity

My time in front of the comp has taken a hit in recent weeks and work is progressing slowly on my repaints. Going too be a bit busy for the next few weeks but will do bits and pieces as I can. I'm preparing and painting my old Landy series 3 FFR. Turned out to be a much bigger job than anticipated but dont they always :icon_lol:

Can't recall if the water steering problem was ever fixed.
Whatever - it is now, and I'm enjoying this fabulous bird all over again!

FS2004 Altair Beriev Be-200 v1.1 multirole amphibious aircraft fix, for use with BE200FS9_V11.ZIP. Corrects contact points to fix steering of the model in water. Fixes by Massimo Taccoli.

I don't know either but try this line wherever it fits for the water rudder.

point.x = 5, -51.54, 0.00, -20.6o, 1800, 0, 0, 20, 0, 0, 0.3, 1, 1, 1, 0, 0

I will check it out later but think it works OK.

A belated request

two years on me comes down the line and downloads the BE-200 model and notices it underperforms. Aeromed's post has no way to download the attached cfg file anymore -it seems that after two years maybe the moderators remove attachments?
Please Aeromed, what do I have to do to tweak the performance of this bird? I hardly get to 275 knots at altitude now, even with throttle wide open and I need your cfg file, if there is a way for you to re-post maybe?

Thanks in advance and best wishes.
