Bring Em On! Post Your Songs about Cars! (OK Bikes too)

alternative lyrics

Back in my band days we were so tired of singin "Born to be wild" we changed the lyrics. Please note this was in San Diego and you have to know the area to be in the know..

"Get your moped running...
head on out to Poway....
Looking for a WalMart...
There's one on the way"

One of the fun things about playing in a band is changing the lyrics.

Ain't that the truth! :icon_lol:

The band I was in years ago knew that song as 'Born to drink mild!' :guinness:

(For the left-pondians 'mild' is a dark ale available in the UK as opposed to 'bitter' which is the other popular beer. Note, I don't consider 'lager' to be beer as that stuff is just fizzy water! :icon_lol:)

Now you're talking...I'd give my drinking arm for a pint of mild down here!

Tell 'em about some of the other 'fine arts' such as 'Black and Tan' a fine balance of Bitter or pale ale with a second beer (always a stout) usually Guinness.

Its beautiful to the eye, and even finer on its way down.

Cheers mate:guinness::guinness:

Edit: Larry, you were far more tactful in your reference to lager than I could ever be (P). Lol

Ahh yes, black and tan...yum. Not had one of those in 20+ years

Well I was trying to retain the SOH PG-13 rating. :icon_lol:

HeY All,

Great songs! Keep em coming - there are lots of songs about cars out there. I should have included trucks in the title as that song by Slim Dusty is great. So go ahead include trucks!

My Dad was an over the road trucker for over 40 years and a dump truck driver before that. I have a natural affinity for big trucks and the sound of a diesel - yes I have a cummins Dodge. I don't even wanna start on the old Red Sovine truck songs - there is probably a million of em an I know em all. Most people here will have never heard of her but even Minnie Pearl did a truckin song - an answer to the Red Sovine classic Giddy-Up Go. When you doin truckin songs you right in my wheelhouse son. So gettin away from Red Sovine I'll put up this one by another truckin song master - Red Simpson. I hate it when this happens! :bump:

I'll put this one up just because I used to sing along to this one by Dick Curless when I was 8 - wishin I had that deep voice...

To any of you who are truckers I just wanna say It killed me to find out the Dunnigan Aladero is no more - you know what I mean. :icon_lol:

Keepin in line with old country - this song gives great advice - NEVER EVER buy a foreign car! :mixedsmi:

A couple comments - Demorier I am a big fan of Australian Country Music. So much really good talent down under - Sunny Cowgirls, Kirsty Akers, Harmony James, Lee Kernaghen and so many more... I want to especially mention since you brought up Slim Dusty - do you know of Rex Dallas? His son Brett is a fine guitarist and I think his grand-daughter Ashleigh has the makings of big time written all over her. Playing so much with Kasey Chambers can't hurt.

Caz - that Woody Guthrie song reminded me of MrGreer51? :mixedsmi:

Why are there NO bikin songs yet! Aren't there any?

There are so many more great songs - come on folks!

PS Forgot to add: Nigel Goin to 1 horsepower is a bit of a stretch but I grew up on rodeo in Montana. Ever hear of Chris LeDoux? Anyway I'll put up one more LOW horsepower song. By the Hondells...

Hey All,

Larry My apologies! You did! They say the first thing you lose when you get old is your memory and I don't recall what you lose after that! :bump:
