P3D_V5 Bugatti 100P: This legend also returns

Little update:

For days I've been taking a closer look at the real Bugatti 100P. And day by day I get more and more respect for the engineers who were involved in the development of this design icon more than 80 years ago.

Anyway, it is really difficult to get specific information about flight characteristics, engine behaviour and the cockpit controls I am looking for - especially if the original never flew.

But: the worldwide Bugatti-Association is very helpful with detailed information that I need for a good implementation. And here, more and more details come to me that I can process directly. And the 1:1 replica by Scotty Wilson+Team, is well documented and actually a great help. So it's a project that I really enjoy, and not just an update of an existing model from ancient times.

That's why I'm really confident that we'll get a very high-quality implementation for V4.5 and V5. And I have to take up the cudgels: Bill Ortis and his team did a surprisingly good job with the FDE back then - I can confirm that today with reference to real data.

Dear Thomas

Spendid

Semi stupid question

The VC has normal gauges or build in gauges ?

Just to know wether we can FRENCH customize it later- whenever we are allowed to fly it again

THANK YOU

My plan is doing two cockpit styles - the replica main panel as you can see on the pix and a original one with the Jaeger gauges. Both will come with 3D shadow frames like in real.

Your shown Jaeger RPM (of a car?) will not work because one engine (green section) will go to 4.500 rpm, the whole gauge range is from 0 to 6.000 rpm.

Perfect

Thank you

Roland

PS..

We can REV 4500 too and above is 1920 Hispano B

Roland,

Thanks! I am deeply impressed - ich bin tatsächlich tief beeindruckt.

But I am looking for something like this...

38481013aa.jpg

REV6000 - this is the Jaeger one of the original Bugatti 100P in EAA-Museum in Oshkosh (but it could be a replica of the gauge). But other sources are showing the scale like your REV4500 (in clockwise direction).

Thomas

Today I show new screenshots once from the interior model and the exterior model. PBR effects are not shown here, but are included. They show well the state of development, but they only show the model. Animations of switches, control levers etc. still have to be made. Only three materials are displayed.

You see here actually a hybrid of the original and with the replica by Scotty Wilson. I will actually release both versions, although they are very different in operation. Whether I will simulate the performance of the two Suzuki racing engines of replica remains open. Maybe all this is a bit too much, but I'm tempted by it, because nobody has ever done something like this for flight simulators. And it is aviation history that I am getting more and more excited about.

I have collected a lot of new information, especially concerning the handling of the Bugatti 100P. A great help was the book The Bugatti 100P record plane by Dutchman Jaap Horst, which arrived last week. Unfortunately it is completely out of print in bookstores. Jaap is a Bugatti connoisseur and has been a great help to get special information. Meanwhile I have contacts in France and USA.
Now I am completely immersed in a new but fascinating world. Maybe I will be able to create something really extraordinary here. We will see.

Hi TiAr, how is going, any news about this project? :wavey:

Thank you for asking.

At least, development is going on. Now we have V5. I did a lot of investigations around in US, the Netherlands and France. And got a lot of new informations.

Shows last original cockpit in WW2. Date of photo is unclear. Maybe 1940.

39240053kz.jpg

I was totally wrong with the last cockpit style. I did it new. Now I am nearly clear, which gauges are onboard 1939.

This should be the exterior painting of Coupe Deutsch de la Meurthe 1939, but that was canceled.

Thomas

Thx for sharing new pictures. Personally I very like this idea (old cockpit version too) and your job here.
Cant wait :very_drunk: for sure!

Hi YoYo,

After some MSFS trips/adventures I decided to work again on Bugatti 100P and Soloys for P3DV5. Work is going on. I did some approvements on both external and interior models. All swiches and hands/pointers are 3D. Now I have to do most of animations in blender (which is completely new for me).

Thomas

Thx for good news! My fingers are corssed (and for MSFS version too). Happy to see that the work on this project going on still.
