C-47 from Manfred Jahn and team

Thanks to Manfred for the cockpit paint kit, now the Buffalo skin will be easy adjusted in colors and other things.

I have no idea what settings I had on or off or which model or paint I was using at the time, but I went to outside view and there it was, gear up with wheel chocks firmly mounted. I wish I'd taken a screenshot LOL
I thought I'd post these pics regarding the wheel chocks not going away. One of them shows the part of the panel where someone mentioned something about the battery switch. This is the position of the switches and the pilot's window is closed. Thanx. :)
This is the model & version...

sim=Douglas_DC3_v1.2
model=C47_2
panel=
sound=TW
texture=C-FDTD

One of my favourite DC-3s/C-47s.

Is this Buffalo repaint avail for V2 of the C47 or just a WIP?

Ok...the custom variable that handles this is called "Sim aircraft parking". It is defined in one of the panel gauges... So for some reason the Sim thinks it is in that state. When does this happen? Perhaps also post a screenshot of p. 2 of the Control Panel window?

Where can I find the C-47 alternative sound package by TuFun (posts #77 and #97) that was adjusted for headphone use? The link provided doesn't seem valid anymore.
Thx,
Al

Should the fuel pumps in the C-47 be left on all the time? I ask because I've noticed that if I load the C-47 cold and dark, then turning off the fuel pumps after the engines are running shuts down the engines, but if I load the C-47 with engines running, turning off the fuel pumps does nothing.
Also, do the fuel pumps in the C-47 have a different function than the boost pumps in the DC3?
Thx,
Al

I noticed on the MP gauge there is a small, floating caret pointer in addition to the two needle pointers. What is the purpose of the caret pointer?
Thx,
Al

There are manual and auto selections on the pumps. Two sets of switches also. Turn on the auto and the other switches to on (manual). After the engines are running you can turn off the manual pumps as long as the auto is still on. Indicator lights should be green.

So if I understand correctly, for each engine startup, the STBY fuel pump switch should be in Auto, the Main fuel pump switch on, and then after startup the Main fuel pump should be turned off. This does result in green indicator lights, while if the STBY switches are off and the Main fuel pump switches on with the engines running, there are no lights on. Bottom line, while in flight we want green indicator lights on. This is the "normal" flight procedure. Correct (I hope)?
I had originally thought the STBY pumps were backups in case of a Main fuel pump failure.
Thanks Musicman,
Al
Edit: Upon reflection, I'm not sure what the Auto switch position means. Does this mean the STBY pump kicks on whenever the Main fuel pump is off? If the STBY pump is the pump that is to be normally on during flight, I find the use of the terms Standby and Main "backwards".

Adding my appreciation for a magnificent airplane

In 1960 I needed to log a few hours or miss my flight pay for the month. so teamed up with a couple of guys (ona an instructor) and did touch and go's for about four hours at an airport in Imperial Valley, California. Loved that plane but still remember us sweating like crazy in that heat :).
The team who assembled this bird can be well-pleased with their skills. It truly is exceptional.
I must ask this however: Is there some "trick" to starting the engines? I am following the checklist precisely and yet I have only been able to start the port engine once (starboard not at all). Somehow I am missing something.
Every time I press the START button a big yellow "Fail" pops up on the checklist next to the engine.
Some help would be appreciated.
Regards to all
Neal Howard
Btw...this is my first post on SOH even though I have followed the forums for a year or more.
No longer an active pilot but was for about 25 years.

Hi. Hover the mouse over the starter cell in the Control Panel p. 2 and you'll get tips on what is needed (Primer? Ignition?) or what went wrong (mixture, throttle? flooding?)

Edit/afterthought - use the mid-click on the Starter icon or button.

The following engine start procedure works for me:

1. Start with a/c cold and dark, everything off (battery, generators, pumps, mags, etc, etc)
2. Parking brake on
4. Throttle about 7% ( view setting on control panel pg2)
5. Mixture to about 90% or AR (about purple mark on control quadrant)
6. Battery on
For right engine:
7. Main Fuel Pump on
8. Prime for about 3 sec
9. Push starter, about 2 sec
10. Mags to Both
11. Push starter again and hold until engine starts to catch (3-5 sec)
12. When engine catches, another shot of primer
For left engine:
10. Repeat 7 thru 12

Once the main fuel pump is on you want to immediately prime and complete the rest of the start up procedure so as not to flood the engine.

Big Thanks

I got both engines started with your help. Had a tough time on port engine but much better on stbd. Took the old Piedmont Airliner for a very nice cruise even if the weather was nasty (thanks to ASN).
Several times I have tried hovering the mouse and middle-click (the mouse wheel click) but have never seen a popup.
Jets and turbos are ok but absolutely nothing beats the sound of a big ole recip revving up.
Best wishes to all

Glad you got airborne! BTW, if you haven't installed the C-47 sound expansion pack by Tufun (TW Radial Twin Sound Package.zip available in the SOH library) an even bigger thrill awaits as those radials fire up. Tufun has also graciously made a version of the sound package for headphones users available here https://app.box.com/s/fvuu2byofwn59hxrhuuv

Could someone please clarify the correct positions of the STBY and Main fuel pump switches for takeoff, cruise, and landing.
Thx,
Al
