Can't get AI aircraft to load

Just downloaded HTAI Cessna 414 by Henry Tomkiewicz but It will not appear in select aircraft list. Is there a CFG fix or something to edit? I added a panel and sound but no joy:banghead:
 
It's meant as an ai aircraft, and as such it won't show up in the aircraft menu until you edit the air file to allow it to show up.
 
Yeah I figured that but darned if I know what to edit. I am comparing it to regular aircraft cfgs looking for the needle in the haystack. I just hope its not an air file thing.
 
yup, it is a airfile thing.

You have to use AirEd and change the value so it'll show up in the aircraft list. I forget the exact string...it's been years since i edited AI, but im sure someone here will know.

It's Aircraft Type.

Aircraft Type = 0 is regular planes that show up on the Select Aircraft menu.

Aircraft Type = 2 is AI planes that don't show up on the Select Aircraft menu.

(I have no idea what Type =1 is, if anything...)

But why would you want an AI aircraft to show up on your Select Aircraft menu???

Look for a program called FS Aircraft Typer (by Janosoft). You don't have to have any programing abilities. Just click on one of the options (flyable or ai-aircraft or helicopter) and write it back into the air-file. The program lists all of your aircrafts.

As Mick stated, you really don't want them showing in the menu, unless you just want to check the textures or somerthing along those lines. They are not designed to be flyable, (tho' they can be flown, the program will load a default panel and sound, but the handling will not be realistic.) Having the ai aircraft load in the preview menu will slooowww it waaayy down when searching.
 
My interest is in the specific plane. Bismark Air Medical flies one around here for one thing because it is pressurized. The AI one is the only 414 I could find but whatever. This is still good info I might be able to use.

Hi all,
I know you say that this is the only version of this a/c available.But AI a/c are usually very low poly,low detail a/c with no cockpit or VC.So you may be dissappointed with the a/c.If it is a good model it might be worth you posting a couple of screen shots to show how good.
If you do like it there is a panel at Flightsim.com for it.Do a search for Scott Thomas.It is for a 402,But they used the same panel.
