Can't really say I know what I'm doing...

... since I've never done something like this before.

But anyway, I've been playing a bit with some shapes, and I'd like to share a glimpse of it with y'all. Can't really tell if it will come to anything, as I'm actually far too busy working on some scenery projects...

Oh, and a Happy New Year to everybody!! ^_^

I really can't say that you know what you are doing or not either...but I can say that you know more about what you are doing than I knew about what I was doing when I tried my hand at modeling. I made a ball, a donut, a box, and a Tic Tac looking thing.....and that is simply because those a preset shapes in Gmax and all I had to do was size them to the size I wanted them to be.

I also have no idea what the plane is......but I'm liking it so far. 4 radial engines....how can that not be liked?

It looks excellent for a Google Sketchup project but I can't help wondering if you are going to run into some major issues if your intent is to create a flyable plane in FS9 or FSX. Sketchup can and has been used to create quite a few FS scenery models but I don't think it can handle animations of the type required for FS aircraft. I tried converting some freeware Sketchup vehicle models to GMAX format to use in a scenery project I was working on but it became a lot of hard work and the poly count was so huge after conversion that I ended up using the Sketchup model as a 3D guide and then building a GMAX model to match it at a fraction of the cost in terms of polys used.

I wish you good luck in your endeavours.

Hi all,

Many thanks for all of the compliments! :3

And indeed, Sr Galahad, you've guessed right: it is the SNCASE SE.2010 Armagnac, which did fly and serve, even if it was only for a very short while (in passenger service 1954-1959). Matt, in a way you're right as well: the plane shares its power plants with a Boeing product, not the 307 but the 377 Stratocruiser, having its engines, props, nacelles and all - but despite having four R-4360 Wasp Majors at her disposal, she was still rather underpowered (!).

Just in order to give you a bit of an idea of her size, here she is with a Lockheed F-94C Starfire next to her:

Regards,

Nikko
