CERA Sim BlackHawk released. Sticky 9/21/13

The systems immersion Cera has done is really the selling point, one can use a real world checklist for this model. I have all the other versions of the H-60, and really decided to roll the Virt model into the hangar as I continue to test the Cera. I do hope more models will show in the future (true USAF HH-60G). Worldwide proliferation continues with the new "glass" Mike version, not sure if the coding would drop the frames like the Aerosoft.

I just picked the Cera Hawk up. My partner's in the Jay-hawk here at Gitmo are giving the addon several thumps up over the alpha hawk selection. Meanwhile us MH65 crews are still waiting a proper Dolphin addon for FSX/Prepar3D along with our Friends in the Mexican Marines who we are training atm with Brazilian help.

Most recently after a complete reinstall of FSX and all my addons, I've noticed a problem only on the Cera sim UH-60 with parking brakes failing to release. Also noticed that the torque gauge does not reflect any changes to the collective and I also get the sound of landing gear extending/retracting when I hit my gear button. (Yes, I know the 60 doesn't have retractable gear, just noticed it when I accidentally hit my standard gear button.)

I've tried reinstalling the 60 as administrator a few times now with no change.

uninstalled, cleared registry and reinstalled as admin. Torque gauge problem fixed. Parking brakes and landing gear retraction sound still a problem. I'm able to disengage parking brakes but it takes around 20 or so rapid strikes of the period button. I do use FSUIPC and I do have rudder pedals and brakes assigned to my toe brakes on the pedals, when I use the pedal brakes, differential brakes flashes on but parking brakes refuse to let go.

Not running a reg version of FSUIPC, but the parking brakes have caused others a few headaches. Actually Cera did a good job as you do have to hit the tops of the pedals to release the brakes. Your FSUIPC settings might be causing issues. I have not hit the gear key yet, but that's something that should be brought up for a service pack (hope there is one).

Cera announced on their website that their next release will be the Eurocopter AS-365 Dauphin.

I've been able to recreate the torque problem. It is caused by putting the helo in a low RPM state by adjusting the Propeller settings and bringing it back up to operating speeds. When the helo comes back to operating RPMs, the torque gauge only indicates 15% but has no problem lifting off and flying safely. Propeller adjustments show a change of torque from 5-15% and will indicate a low RPM light on the dash. All other engine gauges indicate proper performance by the helicopter through all operating modes.

To recreate;

1. Load aircraft
2. Shift-1 and click ready to fly
3. allow aircraft to come up to full operating speeds
4. Take off, do circuit around airport and land
5. With the collective completely down, Adjust propeller settings all the way down to put aircraft in low RPM state and return propeller setting to full speed. Clear master warning.
6. When Aircraft engine and RPM gauges are all green and TQ% gauge comes back up to 15%, pull up on the collective and note if there is movement on the TQ% gauge.

Please let me know if you were able to recreate the problem.

Parking brake problem appears to be fixed with a recreation of the FSUIPC config file.

You cannot use the prop axis on this heli. There are only 3 settings: off, idle, and flight, nothing in between.

Must use the overhead power control levers *with your mouse*.

They should state this in the manual.

Thanks for your help. I did a sample flight and found that the control levers were not locking full forward. Using the mouse I was able to bump it forward into position and it is back to normal. I appreciate your input.

My friend Matt "Jeansy" has completed this very nice set of detailed BlackHawk repaints.

Cheers all , i hope you enjoy his fine work.

Being a military veteran, I'm really wanting to love this aircraft but I keep finding issues. Currently,

Brakes do not want to release at times. I'd gone from CH Pro rudder pedals to Saitek combat pro Pedals.. I do not have this problem with other aircraft.

Very odd high speed flight behavior. Take off and depart straight and level at 151%TQ to 150 Kts. Kick over full right rudder. What should happen is a very slight change in course momentarily. What happens with this bird is that the aircraft maintains course but completely loses airspeed, completely changes direction of flight (aircraft changes direction of movement sideways, in reverse and again sideways in the opposite direction while maintaining course.) Rudder inputs via the pedals show correct deflection in the VC without spiking as well as no other deflection of the cyclic.

Testing with other Cera helos show no such uncontrolled behavior exists with the same FSUIPC profile using the same control equipment.

I'm not some new guy that has no clue what I'm doing in an aircraft. I've taken ground school, Been with MSFS since MSFS 5. Had the registered version of FSUIPC for a few years now. I own and regularly fly all of Cera sim's Helos, several from Nemeth, a few from Aerosoft and fly the Dodosim b206 on level 5 settings. I fly with high quality controls. I use the thrustmaster warthog and saitek combat pro pedals. all equipment has been calibrated properly in FSUIPC. the only other aircraft I've had problems with was the Aerosoft Huey X which seemed like it did not like HOTAS controllers. (Many people had problems with this aircraft.) I fly on a PC that I built specifically for flight simulation. Intel I7 3770K @3.5Ghz, 16GB Ram, with an NVidia GTX 670 graphics card running Win7 64 bit.

Regarding the landing gear sound issue I'd mentioned earlier in the thread, I still hear the sound when the landing gear button is pressed. I'd contacted Cera Sim about it but have had no response from them. You would literally have to write in the code to refer to the sound to play it when the gear was cycled, or they copied the FDE's from another aircraft with retractable gear. How difficult would a patch be to verify your software and remove any reference to landing gear sounds?

Sorry for the rant.

I see your problem, you left your engines back at the lz when you pulled 151% torque.
I would have expected better from a dodo level 5 military veteran.

I can't say as I have ever had the brakes not release.
