Classic Aircraft Simulations J3 Cub Released!

Fresh from the paint booth, but some things to still address before uploading this repaint. This aircraft is restored and flying today as presented here, and won the Bronze Age Outstanding Closed Cockpit Monoplane trophy at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh last year. It's finished in the same paint scheme, inside and out, that it had when it left the Piper factory in 1939. At that time, it was fitted with a Lenape Papoose 3-cylinder radial engine, but was converted to the 4-cylinder Continental in the 1940s. Because the Papoose engine tended to spit plenty of oil down the sides of the aircraft, Piper painted the aircraft black because it was too difficult to keep it yellow.

Thank you Tim and T43.

Ian, here is the quick start guide for the product, which provides all of the rules to follow. Unfortunately, there isn't a fully-detailed manual outlining all of the coded features, but it has been fun to discover them while using the aircraft.
This video illustrates many of the features (though I've never found the doors to be as difficult to use as any of the Youtube videos I've seen would suggest):

Thanks to John whose opinion I always trust, I’m enjoying this plana a lot.

I’ve only flown a Supercub in RL and this one is easier and more basic with much less power but very enjoyable. Love products with “character” and this definitely has a very strong one!

My repaint of NC23438 is now available here: https://flightsim.to/file/77024/piper-j-3c-65-cub-nc23438

Since the time I posted the last screenshots here, I've redone all of the complete maps so that the aircraft has a reduced shine (a more satin sheen now, matching the real aircraft), which also required adjusting the values of the black and yellow paint (the more matte the finish in the sim, the more bright the colors/values appear). I also was able to find the proper early Cub logo for the tail, matching the real aircraft - that logo had a few different iterations over the years.

I finally got around to trying this out, and I have no sound. Checking the sound folder, the sound.xml shows a couple errors.

Also, on my first, and only test flight, After a very nice take-off run, easy throttle, gradual pull for lift off, At approx. 25ft altitude, I got an overstress error, and end flight.

After uninstalling, and reinstalling thru the Contrail app, I get the same sound error. Anyone else have this? Have not reloaded MSFS and tried a flight, yet.

Edit: After reloading, I have sound, but with engine started, I keep getting a cranking sound, and throttle does not affect RPM, and exhaust puffs repeatedly, as in fresh start.

I wonder if another add-on is conflicting? Zero issues with sound here.
I'm wondering if my total MSFS installation isn't FUBARED again. I tried three restarts of the sim, and can't get the engine started properly. It stays in "crank" mode, turning over, with the cranking sound repeating, and the starting "puff" from the exhaust constantly repeating. Throttle has no effect. I can kill the engine by turning off the mags, but then it does the same thing when attempting restarting. I tried a few other aircraft, simple and complex, and they all work fine.

However, I also have something wrong with my controllers. Since the last update, my screen keeps jumping around and changing fron cockpit to outside to side view. I tried changing my button programming, and even my controller, it still remains. I'm about ready to give up on MSFS2020, and just wait for 2024, and Win 12. All my problems started when I built my new rig and Win 11 loaded on it.

Just a heads-up that Version 1.1.0 is now available, which now includes the float variant. I was able to take the float version for a couple test flights this morning, and it has the most realistic handling on water takeoffs and landings of any other float plane/seaplane I've experienced in MSFS, and it's awesome the way you get it up on the step on takeoff. It also has an oar which you can use to paddle yourself around.

I would like to have this livery for the CAS Piper J-3 CUB. It is the Piper Cub G-BPCF from O'Brien's Flying Circus Aerobatic Stunt Team. Anyone?

Here's another repaint for the Cub, depicting the Piper L-4B F-GLRV, which is now available here: https://flightsim.to/file/78875/piper-j-3-l-4-cub-f-glrv

Normally I wouldn't do an L-4 repaint for a J-3, but this was requested by an individual associated with the real aircraft. Even more texture modifying/customizing than my previous Cub repaints, and lots of back and forth trying to get all of the colors just right to match the real thing.
