SOH-CM-2026
I was in Boulder, CO this weekend for one of my grandson's graduation. ColoKent and I met in Denver for lunch. What an impressive guy he is.

I hope I am not embarrassing him by spilling the beans and telling on him. But, the guy is a retired O-6 (Full bull, eagle wearing Colonel) who has been all over the world with the Air Force and done exciting things. He has rubbed elbows and drank whiskey with generals. We spent almost three hours talking, overstaying our time, at lunch.

He also owns a Porsche 911. I am jealous.

Thanks for the kind words, John. Let me take my turn sharing some of the things I got to learn talking to John: First off, as a small business owner, I really enjoyed hearing about John's business ventures. It was great learning about a new industry-- support to the oil and gas industry (an industry I knew very little about. Interesting challenges, and business cycles!). Closer to home (SOH and flight sim), John passed along a massive amount of wise counsel regarding DCS (which I only know enough about to remain constantly frustrated), building actual, honest-to-goodness moving simulators, how to handle fickle control bindings in MSFS 2024 (glad to hear that I'm not the only one who routinely boots up to find my bindings have been stripped by an update!), and a great general discussion on "What's your favorite airplane(s), and why?". I can't wait until John heads back out to visit and we can repeat the get-together-- I had a blast!
