Notes for 1.0.5:

TERRAIN DATA:
New higher-resolution terrain elevation and water data is now streamed from a server, instead of loaded from disk. This allows a significantly smaller installer while improving radar appearance.
The capability still exists to load the new database from file, and we could offer it as a separate download if people want it. The sentinel 1 radar imagery can only be streamed, as it's a couple TB of data.

RADAR:
The new radar, using Sentinel 1 imagery, looks significantly better and is significantly more accurate than the old MSFS (bing) Mapview imagery. HOWEVER, THERE ARE LIMITATIONS:
Imagery coverage is excellent over all continents except antarctica.
However coverage of the following is currently missing:
Antarctica, most of Greenland, and most small oceanic islands. For example: Bermuda, Ascension, Helena, part of the Canaries, the Maldives, Diego Garcia, Micronesia, Kiribati, French Polynesia (except Tahiti), Midway Atoll, and many other small central and eastern pacific islands.
These coverage gaps will be fixed over time on the server side and will not require an update to the aircraft.

In the meantime, a button has been added to the tablet "Aircraft" menu which toggles between the new Sentinel 1-based radar and the MSFS imagery, and this can be used in areas where the sentinel-1 data currently lacks coverage.

Note that, while the ground mapping radar technically functions out to 300NM, due to earth curvature you won't actually get returns past about 200NM (or less), depending on altitude and terrain.

FLIGHT PLAN:
Flight plans are now realistically limited to 60 waypoints each (counting from the active waypoint forward). The flight plan overlay on the HDD (radar, map, TAWS, CAPS) is limited to 50 legs. HOWEVER: these 50 legs are shared between the active and provisional routes, and the 50 leg limit assumes P-P legs. CP (default) or ROT legs are each made up of 3 segments. The practical effect of this is that, if you have a route with many legs, unexecuted changes, which normally are drawn in cyan, may not display.

Changes since 1.03

Flight Plan leg limit (max 60 legs) now enforced
Fixed bug in intercept leg logic
ROUTE pages no longer display historical legs
Fixed bug where certain user-entered magnetic bearings/courses sometimes display +-1deg instead of entered value
Fixed bug in processing of departure/arrival runways when storing/retrieving routes or loading from simbrief

MC:
Fixed bug forcing secondary fuel management whenever external fuel tanks above 1000lbs each
Vd, Vh, and clacker no longer reflect gear and flap limitations per new ref
Page IFF 2/3: fixed R1 (MODE 4) and R3 (HOLD) inop
Fixed RENDEZVOUS missions not updating correctly
PROGRESS ETP: fixed bug on nearest airport upselect/downselect (R1/R2)

Fixed bug where a certain edge case could cause a sudden pitch up or down when engaging AP

ACAWS:
Fixed bug in clearing algorithm for PROP N OVERSPEED (above flight idle)
AIL PRESS LOW caution now inhibited unless utility or boost system is pressurized

Hard Panels:
FUEL MANAGEMENT qty set now changes by 50lbs each click

Fixed RH ice detector output ignored and only LH used
Fixed bug in prop deice sequencing

Fuel:
FLCV TEST: fixed secondary valve failure status reflects incorrect (primary) valve status

CAT II:
fixed missing copilot FD mode verification check

Yet another new MSFS2024 aircraft I'm going to have to buy, despite not having the time to fly all the other ones I've bought this year. Add-on Addiction is a horrible condition.

To anyone who has this: how has 1.0.5 been treating you so far? I've been eyeballing the Herc for a while but have read perhaps too many dissatisfied reviews from folks with machines far more powerful machines than mine who've been experiencing stutter-fests and WASM CTDs with the C-130 since day one.

My specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7GHz
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB GDDR7
32GB DDR5-6000 RAM

SU6 fixed and improved greatly the WASM

That is strange, I've flown this bird a number of times in various scenarios, without issue.

Perhaps reinstalling it may resolve the issue? Hope it gets resolved for you!

Keith.

It's a known issue BS is working on. This is from BBS...

There is a confirmed issue that appeared with the MSFS SU6 update. This bug within MSFS's file-system can cause the sim to hang when loading the large navigation database directly from the aircraft package folder. If you have ever updated the C-130J's navigation database through Navigraph, then this does not apply to you. If you have not updated and do not plan to, then downloading this folder https://milviz.sharepoint.com/:u:/s...zTZeXLye5g3nfAbjCYfTg8oYl-vLUOH-iII0?e=jDgtPS, unzipping it, and placing the Navdata folder in your aircraft's "work" folder (AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\WASM\MSFS2024\milviz-aircraft-d30\work) will fix the issue. This is simply the same navigation database as is shipped with the product, just loaded from a different folder.

We appreciate your frustration, we're frustrated too, and we are working hard to identify and implement a workaround for this issue in code.

Fair enough!

I wonder what is causing an issue for some users & not others? Navigraph isn't something I use.

Hopefully, it'll be resolved for you soon!

"If you have ever updated the C-130J's navigation database through Navigraph, then this does not apply to you."

Do you use Navigraph C-130J plug in?
