Corsair

Fantastic job Jan, any chance of a nicely weathered British FAA one to go with the new victorious that was released!

Here's a few very early wip shots:

strange, this one, some profiles show it gray, others with camouflage, and the photo I found just isn't very conclusive. I thought that camo would be nice, there's already lots of grey(ish) Corsairs. Any thoughts anyone? I can always make T8-B grey and save the camo for another FAA Corsair if need be..

Jan I think that looks fantastic, when I think of FAA Corsairs i think of that camo! The weathering is stunning too.

Hi Jan,

I would really appreciate an early FAA Corsair repaint, before they switched to a roundel with just the blue and white. Actually, exactly like this one, (Image below) only without the factory number sprayed on the cowl: I think that in all other respects, they are the same as later Corsairs.. Except the line between the camo and white underside is blurred on these ones, as opposed to straight on your Corsair. Also, if it isn't too much trouble, could I possibly have some weathering?

Cheers,
Craig :)

Yeah Craig I have all those but there all clean, and have no weathering, FAA Corsairs were filthy if it wasn't Jap blood then it was dirty boots and elbow greese! Imaculately looked after but paint and cleaning come last but being British we never talk about that and as Uncle Albert would say...during the war!!!

P.S. I rather like the spray painted numbers on the cowl, I think it looks so bad that it looks good... if you know what I mean??

SADT, that paint is by Skippy Bing not me, I am useless at painting.

My pitiful effort on a AH F4U_1A with clipped wings, actually done at the same time as Skip was doing his for a FSX model, the AH model is Fs9 ported and is only on my HD.

Rich Ruscoe

Peter, you might want to look at this repaint by Rich Ruscoe, of the same aircraft that Jan is painting:Corsair Mk.2 - "T8-B"

Cheers,
Craig Tatley :)

Well, after looking at the photo once more, I made T8-B grey after all, but I also made another camoflaged aircraft.
All still very much wip!

as you can see I also added some oil staining on the fuselage behind the cowl flaps, since you seem to like them dirty...I still want to get rid of that satiny sheen, but I'm not sure that is possible. Then I may scratch some paint off, but that is for later...

That is perfect Jankees! :-D

Thanks, Jan, for that nice Marine repaint. Looks awfully good. Took her to Ballale for some sight-seeing!

I also tried the new FDE from Fliger, much better flying now. I have some issues though with the contact points of the wheels (they sink into the ground) and the VC camera (way ahead of the cockpit), anyone else with similar problems?

Cheers,
Mark

I had the same problem too, Mark, but I just took and carried over the contact points and VC viewpoint entries from the stock/original Aircraft.cfg file.

Hi, is FSX destructible objects yet? Cant tell from the pics above or are those explosions just effects?

Only thing I can guess on the contact points, as mine as well as the viewpoint are in the right place is that the final model issed by A2A (which I don't have) has the aircraft origin moved from the original model. A not uncommon occurance. Unfortunatly I was not provided with the final aircraft by anyone......

My apologies! T

Hey no worries, that is easily solved, as well as the camera viewpoints. I just wondered if it was just me.
Thanks for your work on the FDE, that is much more important.

@dmaloof:
the FLAK and fire are just FSX or borrowed CFS2 effects

Cheers,
Mark

bullet holes would be fun if I could make real holes...

Meanwhile, I've uploaded the two FAA paints on OZx, hope you'll enjoy them.
