CR-1 Rata Release is EMINANT!

Beautiful work, Crash. :applause: Perfect inside and out with great frame rates. Thank you very much for the Rata.

Brian

She's a beauty, pure art. A great job you did on this one.:applause::applause:

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to fly the piss out of er'.

Thanks, Tom and all the CR-1 Team. :ernae:

Great job. Very enjoyable. :jump:

I'm looking forward to a lot of flight time.

WOW!!! Nice one! and quite challenging! I have flown other flight models said to be challenging and wondered what the fuss was about - but this thing is like trying to fly a hyperactive bouncy-ball on Red Bull! Seriously gnarly stuff!

Thanks guys!

Great thanks go to Tom :icon29: for tweaking the airfile to what you have!

I warned you it would be a hands-and-feet flyer but it's still pretty free of vices once you work out the techniques. Just like a lot of older real aircraft it requires "pilots", not "drivers" so a good flight and landing are the reward.

If you've blasted along at full throttle you'll have learned it has pretty short legs (and it's not very forgiving in a power-off landing) so watch your fuel and head for safety when it gets low!

Inverted flight is fine but it takes a lot of forward stick to keep from pulling through into the ground, and attitude can be difficult to judge. You can imagine the challenges for novice R/W pilots in the heat of combat:icon_lol:

One thing I love is that you can skid a turn significantly... try running low down a long runway or road at speed, shove FULL right rudder and hold a bit of opposite aileron and watch!

We've worked out a "pylon race" format that will be perfect for the Rata (and a few others) that, once the scoring bugs are worked out, we'll foist upon the public.

Have fun!

Rob

This one was a bit challenging to work out as it has to be formidable in the hands of an experienced pilot, but repleat with traps for the unwary. I hope everyone enjoys its pleasures and vices!

Cheers: Tom (one of the other ones)

Great plane Tom..the sounds are great, as is the vc, FDE, exterior model etc..

Back in its natural post war habitat ..Wanaka..first take off very hairy and went through fence and over the famous Wanaka drop off at the end of the runway ..gathered air speed and away I went..great fun..my 8 year old son also had a go..my first landing was pretty good -although I was suppose to land on the grass and ended up on tarmac and a bit of ground loop at the end..second take off and landing no problems! I found the take off more difficult than the landing and taxiing was even harder..

Great Screens Paul :applause: , the next series , you better get the airshow up and running for the crowds to see :mixedsmi::wavey:

I thought something was missing! :wiggle:
Oh well, see it as a practice run for the formation flypast during the show.
Great screens Paul, your rig is producing beautiful rich colours.
PS You need the Wanaka texture addon I did which moves the runway and adds definition to the boundaries.
PM me if you want it.

As an aside: I tried setting up a Recorder Module formation and it resolutely Would Not
Anyone else care to have a try?

This is a fun plane to fly, landings are not that hard. You can just fly it till you are a few feet off the ground and close the throttle.

There is something wrong with the textures for the 1st soviet paintjob. The one with the red stars on the wings. The bottom of the wings is plain white. In the texture folder it is blue with red stars. When you copy the wing textures from another paintjob it works so it is something in the file.

Everything is ok, check out your 3d rendering options.

Where can i get a set of cool sceneries like those!
they are so nice!

Thanks for the quick reply.

So far I have not found what setting is wrong. Can you give any hints in what direction to look? I also wonder if it is a setting why is only 1 paint affected.

I see it also happens on Naki's system. In the screenshot of the Rata at the start of the runway the bottom texture is also missing.
