Cri-cri props

Thanks for your revised textures for the props. I'm just going to try it.....
I'm slowly winning with the pilot, but need to change a few other things (flying control & prop pivots have changed for some reason, it really needs some more switches in the cockpit, & there are some mods to do with the .cfg & possibly the .air file.......)
Falcon, hope you will do a hi-res texture & VC?)

All changes are welcome Keith, so just take whatever time you need. I agree on the need for additional switches and yes, I am doing a set of hi-res cockpit textures as well as a new layered paint kit. I'm not familiar with what you describe as the "formation flying box". What is that exactly?

If you go to exterior view in FSX & go underneath looking up into a blue sky......... If you have the Gmax d/l you can see this box - possibly an initial calibration device?
I am currently looking at the .air file & the .cfg & am finding a whole load of errors in the aircraft dimensions, but until I try the results of my labours I dont know what will happen.... for example; At the moment it just will not spin, it just high speed rolls with rudder only.....Otherwise it seems to fly, Loop, roll, cuban& stallturn/hammerhead OK & I have found the British LAA release with entry speeds for some manouevres...

Beautiful work Keith. Very exciting to finally see a pilot in the "Cricket". If you have (or can find) the January 2011 edition of AOPA Magazine, it has a CriCri on the cover and a very comprehensive article outlining the flight testing for one such airplane. Lot's of good information about the airplane in that article.
 
Falcon, thanks for the AOPA magazine lead - one can read it on-line - quite interesting.
Along with trying to get magneto switches to perform, I will try to get the elevator & aileron trim to work in the VC. (The trims seem to be wrongly notated in Gmax, but I have no information otherwise...)

Liking what I have seen here. I decided to make some 2048 .bmp textures with a set of my propwashes. Falcon, you spurred me, but your washes are more what a wood prop spin would look like, I did one using cut of the sim's prop at rest in 512X4512 initially, actual size on textures is close to 128X128. My textures are enclosed in the .zip[ for those that wish to test them. I am working on a higher-res set of textures. In 2048, I think I may be able to make cleaner stripes, maybe better Fonts for the letters too. I want to work with the glass too, I am not all that satisfied with the default. We'll see.

As for textures, the Paint kit I'm working on is 4096x4096 and any textures/liveries I produce from this point on will be dds (not bmp) to increase the resolution. Thanks for the work on the props.:applause:

Will the current model file accept the .dds textures? I used 888-8 32-bit .bmp textures and ran the entire folder through the FSX Add-On Converter. I know if somehow it can be made native FSX, the frame rates will be much better. Anxiously awaiting that pilot. Like I said, I want to do something with the glass. But I have a busy weekend, VIR Gold Cup is this weekend and I'll be there during the next two days.

Not racing per se Falcon, old race cars, vintage racing. But Saturday there is a concours at the art barn, where many old sports cars and European luxury cars will gather. Cannot turn down a photo op like that.:icon_lol:
