DC-2 X Released!

I just bought it.. and I hope I'm overlooking something.. This has been presented as a native FSX model.. is it ?

Update: I purchased it from Flight1... as I've had great success with them. The only DC-2 listed there, turns out to be the "port over".

Has anyone yet purchased the native FSX version through Flight1 ?

I think all the purchases are through Flight 1, Brett. Do it through Rob's site and you'll have the choice of the two versions.

I will.. but that site is down..

Mean-time.. I've contacted Flight1.. hopefully they'll just apply my purchase to the FSX model.

Weird that they don't list it on their main, FSX aircraft page.

The UIVER site (http://dc2-fs.com) seems to be down, and it seems to have been that way for over 12 hours. Is there another site I can go to in order to buy this aircraft? I tried Flight1, but all they had was the old version of the DC-2

As per their reliable, customer-satisfaction-oriented method, Flight1 has taken care of my problem :ernae:

Now I'll wait patiently for the dc2-fs site to get up and running, so I can purchase this gorgeous model :wiggle:

Glad you like her, Brett!

The real thing is undergoing maintenance at the moment (Now the flying season is over) and all the control surfaces will be reskinned. The old skin was getting a bit old after 25 years. With your purchases we can help to keep her flying, and who knows, maybe she'll still be flying in another 25 years!

Outstanding plane, guys.. Drooled all over the screenies for a long time.. More value here than advertised! Yaaaaahoooo!

I certainly hope so.. I have an affinity for old, radial-engined beauties. I modeled for myself, and released, a Convair 240 not long ago... because there were no decent models out there. The default DC-3 just doesn't "feel" right. I like to re-create old, short-haul passenger flying, and the challenge of keeping those ornery old birds in one piece, on schedule, and on course, by old-school navigation, and TLC. This DC-2 is just what I've been looking for .. Great model.. great flight dynamics.. realistic systems that aren't TOO much for a lone, desktop pilot to handle.

**SALUTE** :ernae:

Great aircraft leaves the default DC3 for dead.

Two things I noticed.

1. If you don't load the DC2 to start with, and use the default cessna 172, I found it impossible to start the left engine.

2. The starboard engine inner exhaust flame shows through the cabin at night just above the the pipe above the hydraulic shut off valve.

Oh dear! after ALL that beta testing too:icon_lol:

I added a camera-definition for a passenger seat :wiggle:

(and took a peek into the lavatory (it was clean) )

I'm havving more fun flying this thing.. than any model to date :jump:

Well, indeed we did a lot of testing. But I cannot repilicate this problem.
I can start both engines when I switch from a flight with a cold and dark Cessna.
It was not reported, and FSX works in misterious ways (I would call it buggy), we all have different PC systems.
Sometimes some info is retained from an other flight.
I read on an other forum that after rebuilding the FSX.cfg, some issues disapeared.
It's not always the developer to blame.
Same goes for some effects, clearly an FSX bug, ask any developer.
The majority however so far seems to be enjoying the plane, thanks guys :wavey:
Rob.

Sure.. it's a generic definition with adjusted x,y,z coordinates..

Just make a backup of the aircraft.cfg file before adding these lines.. It doesn't place you directly in a seat.. but you can move around (just like any other camera).. with the keystrokes..

While poking around through the cabin the other day I noticed that the passenger safety notification sign on the front bulkhead lights up when you flip the overhead "No Smoking" switch up in the cockpit.

Thanks Brett.

After many years of system engineering, testing and software validation I know the problems of beta testing. Its bad enough when you are installing systems on the same hardware. The variations of hardware available means that someone will have problems that can't be replicated.

I never meant to imply that the software developers are at fault, and released software should be 100% bug free as it is impossible in the first place and no software would ever be released if this was a requirement

Thanks for a great aircraft. I enjoyed it before **** and now that I have **** and discovered all of the features I am even more impressed
