De Havilland DH.114 Heron

Just a few pics of the VC, as development continues.

No exterior shots yet, as although the essential model is done, it isn't textured and the VC will be finished up first. The cockpit is a blend of old and new, as was often the case with these aircraft throughout their careers, but which also makes flying in FSX more enjoyable. Still more details and texturing to add, but it's coming along.

Nice to make an airliner for a change!

With co-pilot control yoke removed (which was an option on the aircraft, as it could be flown with a single-pilot), and pedals folded up on that side.

Fantastic! I will definitely purchase this one!

Any idea yet what liveries will be included?

Also, on a side note: Is it possible that you will add some (very) minor reflections, and/or weathering to the cockpit glass? Many addon devs lately seem to do this, and those addons without it appear to be lacking a windshield (cockpit glass) when in the VC.
Regardless, it looks excellent so far!

Looking Great Mike :untroubled: .. Hmm a Dove/Devon ... I did not say that said Ian :biggrin-new: .. ... Ian don't go there ... looking Great :encouragement:

Sold! This low & slow airliner is right up my alley. Nice work so far, Mike.

Also can't wait for your Komet, too!

Wonderful choice! Wonderful modeling! Thanks, Mike! :encouragement:

( like Ian, i also didn't say nothing about Dove/Devon  )

cheers,
jan

What could be finer than a four piston engined airliner? :applause:

Look forward to this one. Thanks Mike!

cheers,
steve :wavey:

Looks great! The freeware one is an OK filler for now, but this one is going to be great with an actual VC to use. I'm definitely going to be getting a lot of flight time out of this bird.

Hi Mike,

That VC is looking great - and it's really good to see that the DH.114 Heron is getting some more attention (Of course, credit for the first really nice DH.114 should go to the boys at CBFSim - who just released the (almost entirely complete) freeware Heron.) - and a VC!

I was wondering if you were going to fit it with "British" original radios, or whether the radio fit for this aircraft will be those Bendix-King units?

Regards,
Craig.

The 114 will have the radios in the screenshots, as this makes flying in FSX easier; it is also the panel setup (more or less) of the 114 I flew in (G-AORG), and so has the nostalgic element in there, too (for me).

Just a tiny update, as the VC engines and wings are coming together, and so views out the passenger windows can start be taken. And yes, you can pull the window shades down. This has to be the most complete VC I've ever done, almost the complete aircraft inside - you can even roll open the sink in the bathroom (and lift the toilet seat). Good to be able to stretch your legs in the cabin during those longer flights, and enjoy the great views out of those large windows. :)

Can't see it in the pix, but, from memory, the Air Fiji Herons I flew in in 1969, had the main wing spar going right across the plane - you had to step over it to get forward.....or is it just old age setting in and I'm remembering wrong......

Your memory hasn't failed you, and you'll have to step over the spar here, too. Hopefully you can see the spar in this pic (tastefully covered in carpet).
