Maybe those 'funny story' posts crossed the SOH 'Terms of Use' agreement all members agreed to when they signed up regarding no posting of racist, sexist, political or other inflammatory comments. There are certain subjects that will get jumped on quickly as they have no place here at SOH.

We have the 'Cantina' for people who want to post jokes (not appropriate in the 'Newshawks' forum) and any political or religious 'hot potatoes' should be discussed at the 'Quarter Moon Saloon' ( http://quartermoonsaloon.com/forum/forum.php ) where a lot of familiar SOH'ers hang out to have food fights over their favourite topics. SOH is a PG-13 type site with a number of younger members who do not need to be subjected to certain 'unsavoury' topics.

This forum would not be the same if you wouldn't be here.
I think I know what you mean (looking a few months back in the Newshawks forum) and actually I share the same thoughts as you. Which is why I concentrate on this forum of FSeighters and FSniners and actually I feel at home here, just like I do at CalClassics forum. To me this is a great bunch and I would miss the comradship and expertise all the people share.
So (in my interpretation of Bob Dylan's words) don't think twice, it's allright....here at SOH.

I've decided to follow Middle's advice & not do the baby/bathwater disposal. I will be sticking to this forum only (possibly CFS3) which, I guess, means that the bullies have scored a victory; but I really can't be bothered fighting with people who have attitudes like that, both it & they are beneath me.

Late coming here and I appreciate your sensitivities to these things. I am that way as well.

Thanks for sticking with us folks at least here in the FS8 and FS9 forum. We appreciate your insight, contributions, and company.

Gee, hardly know what to say - I certainly feel for Andy as I've had precisely the same thing happen to me on one other site, where I was basically accused of using an illegal process to circumvent the initiation of FS9 on my machine - in other words, using a crack file (I wasn't) - plus the folks there had more computer experience than I had and made sure I knew it - reckon they weren't working a 14 or 15-hour day and tending to FS-related stuff afterward while nodding off over the machine. Even though I'm now retired, I have enough jerks in my life without adding more voluntarily. I finally quit posting, and even viewing on that site due to the attitude. The fact it exists says something about the administrators as well. After coming to SOH I found the atmosphere, especially here in the FS9 forum, much more civilized and accepting. This is a hobby, after all, not a job and we should remember everything we do on these pages is for fun - and to help each other. I've never seen anyone get cross with anyone else on this thread. Not having FSX, I don't go to that forum so am not privy to what's occurring there. Newshawks has looser standards for posting topics (they can be non-FS related, after all, which practically guarantees potentially explosive things will be brought in). People being what they are, they will be much more freewheeling with their attitude and words when they aren't confronting who they are disagreeing with or belittling face-to-face. Try to remember that as well. Being rude and condescending to another poster on a forum is a sort of cowardice in my book. I agree with the previous poster who recommended a little time off to regroup. Give at least a couple of days to considering your next move. I for one enjoy reading your posts and want to keep folks with some manners on the site; I think we all do. Besides, I need anyone who can appreciate what is sometimes a rather wry humor!

I've got a Guinness downstairs and I think I'm going to imbibe. Maybe you should kick back and have one yourself - wish I could spring for it.:guinness: Stick around!

Well strictly speaking that is correct as the 'Cantina' is the forum that was specifically created for jokes, 'Newshawks' is intended for items with a news-worthy content (aviation related or not).

That comment is uncalled-for and un-needed. I may be a Moderator (but not of this forum nor the 'Newshawks') but I can assure you that I would never adopt a 'holier than thou' attitude with anyone.
