Today, Microsoft/Asobo hosted their latest developer stream, which answered a lot of questions pertaining to MSFS 2024. You can skip to the 19:07 mark for the MSFS 2024 questions/answers.
Some takeaways that stood out to me:
- In the PC spec requirements, the Min Spec hardware was chosen to achieve 30 FPS on the low graphics setting preset and 1080P resolution. Recommended Spec hardware was chosen to achieve 30 FPS on the high graphics settings preset and 1440P resolution. Ideal Spec hardware was chosen to achieve at least 30 FPS (but more like 40-50+ FPS) on ultra graphics settings preset and 4K resolution. Some optimizations still to be done.
- In-game frame rate target now available, so if chosen, the graphics will automatically change in-game to maintain your desired frame rate minimum.
- 64 GB ram, as listed under ideal recommended hardware, is only needed if you're planning on running MSFS 2024 along with some other memory-intensive programs at the same time, such as video recording. Otherwise, 32 GB ram will be just fine 99% or more of the time.
- Tornadoes will only be present in career missions (and possibly pre-programmed weather?), but definitely not live weather.
- Windshield wipers actually work now - pushing/clearing rain from the windshield.
- VR implementation optimized and included from day 1
- You can create different key bindings profiles for each aircraft.
- They're expecting to have greater than 90% accuracy with AI model matching to real world air traffic with all of the new AI models included.
