Dino's F-35 now at SimMarket (payware)

All - I had SimMarket to change the product name (and link) - it was their initiative to call it "the REAL F-35"...

Surely it is not the best move you can think of, commercially, but I always dislike improper use of words... new link below.

Credit for STOVL functionality goes to Rob Barendregt and Mario Motta (of Sim Skunk Works - he provided an excellent and free replacement to FSUIPC to enable Rob's "magic" functionalities)

@Chris

When in hover mode, target speed is set as follows:
- If the NAV active frequency is locked on one of the supported carriers (default, Javier's Nimitz, Clemenceau) the speed is automatically set to the one of the carrier.
- 0 knots (ground speed) otherwise

Aileron trim controls are used to change the target speed - you may want to assign stick keys to these functions.

Sorry Dino but I cannot get the C model to deck land without a crash resulting... Even getting speed down to just under 130 knots and greasing the deck. Is there a way round this, something I can edit in the CFG maybe that will get over this.

Matt

Did you try to dump fuel in order to reduce the weight?

@MDIvey

Carrier operations have been tested very extensively and should work - will give it a try to see if there is anything strange in the retail build.
As cortomalteseit suggests, weight is a critical factor in carrier landings - you should make weight is below 47000 lbs (or 48, can't remember by heart right now) for the F-35C. Assuming you have started you flight with default settings (full fuel) you need to dump fuel before landing.

Energy bracket on the HMD is the main indicator of good landing approach.

(then...on carrier planes some users change the .cfg so that the landing gear is stronger... increasing the damage threshold - vertical speed the gear withstand in feet per minute - in the contact points section. But...shame on you if you do :) !)

Thank you both for the help...that is probably it. I think I was over weight for landing. I will give what you suggest a try.

Matt

Took out fuel using FSX payload manager and landing was fine so thanks. Is there a quick fuel dump within the cockpit?... couldnt see any instrcutions on that in the manual?

Fuel Dump switch is on the left side of the Fuel Window page when displayed on the panel.
As noted in the manual, page 17, "Layout Example -2", item #3. :icon_lol:

Correct - examples are chosen so that all of the functions are shown.
It would have been better to create an "avionics map"... by the way, as far as I know the fuel page is an almost perfect replica of the real one (early software release of the F-35)...

Very nice model, as usual. Thanks.

Excellent work Dino! Bought this as soon as i saw this post! Flew the C model first and loved it! One thing i did notice;

Like in the last version, when on the ground with the e-brake on, the aircraft just seemed to turn on its own.

Only other (very minor) thing i saw was that on the Marine model, it shows vfmat-501. Shouldnt it be vmfat-501?

Couldnt be happier with this aircraft and thank you cery much for it! Now... if only you could find that Eglin area scenery!!!

All, thanks for the appreciation...

As for the "micro oscillation" problem, this is explained in the FAQ section of the manual. I've investigated that quite a bit, and solving it caused several other major problems... so I left it as is. Seems to be a weird instability in the contact point system (probably linked to the peculiar weight distribution in the flight model - which was done to help the "fbw-like" .air file)...

The VMFAT-501 is of course a mistake... the funny thing is the desktop images of all the computers I use daily are pictures of the F-35B... I will release a replacement texture tonight/tomorrow morning... also, I have some other texture sheets (BK-1, CF-1) which were not included in the release as they needed more work...

A visually stunning model and the hovering is challenging. I need to remember all those shortcut keys! Well done ol'chap! :salute::salute::salute:

Great bird and fun to fly.
I just have one request, the landing gears hydraulic cylinder that compress's every time you land and then expands when you takeoff is painted black. Can you replace that texture with more of a stainless or chrome finish?
Mike
