Some shots of Dino Cattaneo's latest work on the F14D Tomcat, this is Beta II. This cat is looking cool!

Slight editing on scenery with burn tool in photoshop, I think this makes the scenery look more realistic.

Hahahahaha ----ahem---ah,yes, somewhat the same here but no plastic helmut and I had "A tear in my beer" by Hank Williams Jr and Sr---:guinness::icon29: ----and "getter better' by the Beatles.

that 1st beta 2 flight was a marvel..........but reports to make. Beta 2 W.I.P. continues as Dino says he is still working on a few things. Hope you have a paint coming along?

Some VC screenys, basic stuff, dawn, daylight.

Hi Dino! What a beautiful model you have!

I've been paying attention to the progression of this for quite some time, as I'm sure a lot of others have been too.

Two things I notice about the geometry of the F-14...

1) The wing appears to be too thin overall. Compare the wing root fairing to the thickness of the wing in these pics vs. actual images of the F-14. Something isnt right....either the fairing (the part the wing slides into, inside of which is the pivot) or the wing itself appears not to be scaled correctly.

2) On the real F14, both the wings and the stabilators have a few degrees of anhedral that may be present on your model, but its hard to see from the pictures BananaBob posted. In the below image, you can also see the wing thickness issue a little better, too.

Overall this thing is stunning! Dino, great work. I've done a little 3d modeling so I know this is quite the project!!

Yeah, I can start painting on other parts now.:ernae:

I'm assuming that this is aimed at SP2/Acceleration, as was the T-45 Goshawk.
SP1 users like me will have to swap out the MFDs and the HUD.

Me want it NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is W.I.P. beta 2. Dino is still working on the project.

Details ---gear and missiles in screeny.

My first freeware FRAPS FPS Benchmark results:

1st beta 2 test
2009-05-30 13:39:49 - fsx
Frames: 7814 - Time: 292434ms - Avg: 26.721 - Min: 19 - Max: 38

open sea, water mid2X, weather has clouds and gusty winds, fleet in view the entire time, DX9, locked spot view, wire caught gauge displayed entire time, display game framerate setting unlimited

27 fps average over 4 minutes 52 seconds of slow approach from 10 nautical miles to trap at 125 KIAS at a rate of 533ft/minute, about 9 feet per second at deck contact catching One Wire.

Using water at low2X or high1X and clear weather should result in an average much higher. But my pc is not a powerhouse so testing on a weaker system shows good fps, in my opinion.

That is one fine looking aeroplane. It's interesting how the folks at Grumman transformed the Tomcat cockpit in the D model. Good stuff. Can't wait for the release of this one.
