Dino's T-45C version 2.00 (released)

Stunning paints

:medals::applause::guinness::icon29::running:
This is great.

My problem or has anyone seen this? A minor isue.
I'm getting a red seperation between the 2 cockpits from outside view BUT ONLY AT CERTAIN ANGLES.
see screeny please

Thank you very much, Dino. Although I'm into low and slow, I'm slowly getting the hang of it right now.

"red separation"

@Wilcoyote4

well, there is no "red separation" between the cockpits... it is just a weird effect of the new glass material I've used... there is a flat "piece of glass" that separates the two cockpits as in the real thing, but it happens to appear red-dish at certain angles and at certain light conditions. I've decided to live with it as in general, I like the new glass effect much better than the previous one...and accepted this weirdness as by-product of the new glass algorithm... Hope this does not spoil the experience too much! :)

Dino----
As I wrote, tis'n't an issue for me, just wondering.
Thanks for defining the situation.
I certainly like the canopy glass.
I spend most time in the VC anyway.
Cheers :icon29::guinness::guinness::icon29::guinness::applause::guinness::icon29::icon29::running:

Really Nice and fun bird to fly!

Thanks a lot Dino and everyone who work with you...but i do have a little problem no cockpit glass are showing :(

Any idea?

This jet is just awesome! So much better than the previous versions which were already good. I've flown it twice "by the numbers" using real world docs that are available on the net and Dino you've got this one nailed! I've been doing some training on my own using stuff that is available online to train like real naval aviators do and I just flew a flight out of Meridian practicing stalls and doing aerobatics right out of the FAM flight manual from Training Wing One. I was able to perform the maneuvers as suggested in the manual and the aircraft behaved exactly as it said for the most part...wonderful aircraft!

I do have a couple of problems with sound though and I wonder if anyone else has experienced this...

1 - My canopy open/close sound plays twice each time I open or close the canopy
2 - I have no "bitching betty" sounds for the LAW or BINGO fuel level...I see the notification in the HUD for passing BINGO or LAW but no sound plays. The sound files are in the Sounds folder of the Goshawk so I don't know what the deal is here?

Thanks so much for this great freeware...Judging by the reaction around various sites we're not the only ones enjoying it here! Hopefully I will have the time to release my Joe Williams OLF scenery soon and we Meridian Virtual Naval Aviators will all have a new place to bounce the T-45!

Guess we scared the locals at very low alto. Love this bird already.. Go Marines!:salute:

Well,

I know that my T-45C sits way too high on the ground, no need to post pictures :) ... I've been working on that, but after several attempts (trying to match the animation sequence with the real world stance) this was the only combination that seemed to work fine during landings/takeoffs... then I focused on other things.

It may be necessary to change the animation sequence in the 3d model, although theoretically the animation is correct (maximum extension towards maximum compression)... I'll see what I can do in a future update!

It would seem that your first version was able to sit much lower. Not counting rivits, but I don't understand what it would take to present the gear in real form. Not a complaint, more of an observation.

@dvj

Well...nor do I. I ensure you that this issue was taken "seriously", as it may really spoil the appearance of the Goshawk on the ground. To name another, I also had the gear door to relax when the hydraulic system was off (another peculiar thing which was considered a major spoiler by some) - and that feature was dropped as it was creating issues in multiplayer.
Anyway, I've tried several times to get it right and I could not. I sorry.
I am sure that, with some more time, I can fix this - and I'll do my best in doing that.

Then, this is surely not "rivet counting" but a major drawback from the visuals, which goes along with the wrong shape of the gear doors, to name another.
Aside, from my side,complains / observations / constructive and destructive criticism (I had a lot of the latter!) are MUCH welcome, as they are a major driver for improvement. And then, it is a videogame and nothing more than that :mixedsmi:

By the way, number of rivets is inaccurate - not sure if I can fix this, unfortunately :mixedsmi:

Anyway to change the OBS and HDG?

btw, the HUD is awesome!!! I use Track IR so the realism is a big plus... very nice!

Anyway to change the OBS and HDG?
You can select the desired OBS radial for the current NAV1 VOR station by pressing the CRS button on the Data Entry Panel (DEP). You will see a scratchpad on the HUD and you can use the number buttons on the DEP to enter the course. After you press ENT, the new value will be accepted and you will see the CSEL on the MFD change. You will not be able to change the OBS when the NAV1 is tuned to an aircraft carrier TACAN station, the OBS is then automatically set to the Basic Recovery Course (BRC), which is the direction the carrier is moving. In both cases, you will see the marker on the heading tape show the direction to the station and the steering arrow act as a CDI. The CRS value will have no effect, if the NAV1 is tuned to an ILS, and there will be no heading marker.

By pressing the HDG button on the DEP, you can set the heading for the autopilot and it will steer the aircraft on that course, when active. You will see the HSEL value on the MFD change.

If you hover with the mouse over the DEP buttons you will see the tooltips for their functions.

An easier way to set the NAV1 OBS is from the HUD 2d Control Panel (Shift+5). There is a NAV1 knob, where you can quickly change the value with the mouse scroll wheel and the steering arrow on the HUD will rotate accordingly.

Miscellaneous answers

Once again, thanks for your appreciation.

Stance @dvj & others:
I understand that the stance issue may be a major drawback from the visuals... therefore I have spent two hours last night experimenting with new gear dynamics and animations (and tailhook settings). After several attempts I have now a configuration that works...but still needs some more work as launch bar dynamics are screwed.

Red reflections between the cockpits:
Got rid of that by making the part in a different material

Also, I am working on other minor issues.

Plan is to release an update before I leave for my summer vacations.

As for the Tomcat, yes I am remaking it - along with the F-35. I doubt it will be more efficient than the previous model, however. There is a preview post on my blog: indiafoxtecho.blogspot.com

Hi Dino,
great job with the T-45, well done. When altering the suspension, have you tried moving the empty-weight CoG forward a bit ? I've been playing with this a bit myself and find that altering the rear suspension to a more realistic angle (more compressed) makes the aircraft tail heavy. As the Ref Datum Point is -2.00, a CoG of 2.200 puts the CoG only slightly forward of the aircraft centre line. I know that this is a ball achingly slow and tedious job, especially with the cantilever suspension, as the wheels move backwards/ forwards. I've never done carrier landings, so re your comments about your alterations screwing up the launch bar dynamics, probably what I've altered on mine would'nt work on a carrier anyway. What I've achieved up to now looks good on the ground, but the main gear bottoms too easily on landing, so still a way to go.

Russell.

@Russell

No, I am keeping the COG as is.
I have reworked the contact points, the launch bar, the tailhook both in terms of entry in the .cfg and animations in the 3d model.
It seems to work, although the suspension animation does not match with the dynamics 100%. Need to fix the launchbar, as it now drags the a/c downward during launch...
Landing behaviour seems acceptable - and so is carrier landing.
some more tweaks and it will be done.
I will not release an update immediately - will do that next week so that I can include anything else that should be fixed (and that I can fix on time).

Oh Wow!

Not only does Dino GIVE us a stunning new aircraft, he then makes it even better:jump:

Dino, man. You are 'simply the best':applause::applause::applause:

I am currently waiting to go in for major surgery. I shall print, and take with me, this wonderful manual. Hopefully, when (if?) I come out, I'll 'know it all':icon_lol:

:salute::guinness::salute::guinness: Much appreciated!
