Doug Smith's Fairey Firefly

Fnerg

SOH-CM-2023
I figured I'd start a new thread because the other one is soooo long. Good news boys, I finished mapping the exterior, next I'll start working on the cockpit. I'm so happy, today I exported from Gmax and created a VC view for the first time. It's a little wonky and not sure why I appear to be a very tiny pilot, but those shots will come later as I figure out the perspective better.

Here are a couple shots of the Firefly all mapped, with redone Fairey-Youngman flaps. I put a test coat of 2 shade grey on the fuselage just to check it out. So pleased with myself !! And thank you very much Milton for all your help on the technical stuff, I am very grateful.

This is very exciting Doug. I can only imagine the feelings of accomplishment from doing what you've done so far :)

Your work is looking very good

That is looking great Doug :applause: You have come a long way and each step shows your progress at mastery.

Progress shots!! Still have a few things to fix up, and the paint is just a test, details will come later. Today was a good productive day :wiggle:

Doug

That is one stunning work of art....and for a first effort at that! Amazing stuff there...looking forward to crashing it.

...but seriously, here's some progress shots. I've been doing exterior details in PSP for the past few days. This is the Canadian Warplane Heritage Firefly. The paintkit is easy! I'll provide you guys with the psp files too.

New Shots

I was playing around with FSRecorder last night and got a few nice shots of both of my Fireflies:jump:Hope you like them. Finishing touches on the exterior, and building objects for the interior.
