Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

To keep you updated we will post updates on AVSIM forums.

    Thank you for your support.

What is the best version of this aircraft available, pay ware or freeware? The RAZBAM has a vol.1 and a vol.2, but where would you find both?

I would be happy to help, but first we need to know what aspects you are focusing on in your inquiry—for example, visual appearance, flight physics, complex system, or a simple flight model, etc..
With this information, the community will be better able to answer your question.

For FS9 there aren't a lot of options.
There is a Spad from Alphasim (ALPHA AD-4 Skyraider.zip) for FS2002 BUT its a little too old for FS9 and I'm pretty sure some of the animations (prop?) don't work.
I haven't tried the RAZBAM version, my feeling is that it was meant more for FSX.

From what I understand they are still available at Razbam. But for a somewhat steep price.... (at least according to my personal opinion)

https://www.razbamsimulationsllc.com/product-page/skyraiders-volume-1 (Volume 1 is $25,00)

https://www.razbamsimulationsllc.com/product-page/skyraiders-volume-2 (Volume 2 is also $25,00)

https://www.razbamsimulationsllc.com/product-page/skyraiders-vol2-strike-fighters-standalone (The strike fighter package is a bit cheaper with $15,00)

I only had a quick look but it seems models are compatible with CFS2,FS2004 and FSX.

Cheers,
Huub

They are fractionally cheaper at Simmarket, €25 as opposed to $25.

Volume 1
Volume 1 is only compatible with FS2004 & CFS2
Volume 2.
Volume 2 is compatible with FSX, FS2004, CFS2 and Strike Fighters.

They're obviously pretty old now, but they hold up well. Which is possibly an apt description of myself.

I know you come from the country where some people still re-calculate to values before 1971 (Decimal day), but €25 is roughly $27,87. So Simmarket is actually more expensive than Razbam :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: .

Wow, thanks for the responses guys. I would like to view a complete and accurate cockpit with real flight FM. I did order both the Vol. 1 & Vol. 2.
Thanks for the help!

HU: Models for Strike Fighters Package are designed for Thirdwire's Strike Fighters / Wings over Vietnam / Wings over Europe platforms https://store.thirdwire.com/store_p2.htm and will be incompatible with Microsoft CFS2 / FS2004 / FSX

Just for the heck of it, I installed the older ALPHA A-1J in FS9.

A-1J.jpg

No prop animation (for that matter, no prop) in FS9.
I've included this newer A-1J (which is the older Alphasim version) because Virtavia no longer lists it.
Its mostly unusable in FS9, but the FS2002 and CFS (1 and 2) folks might want to play with it. :wiggle:

The one neat feature is the "4G pull up and slip" gauge which was needed for dropping nukes. :dizzy:
IMPORTANT- the sound is aliased to the FS2002 f-4 Corsair. You'll need to drop in a radial engine sound folder.
You'll also find an alias in the sound folder for FSX.

I had a look in my old hanger and found this:

“A1-A Skyraider modification for FS2004by R. Spaan,
Aircraft originally intended for CFS2, later converted for FS2002.
Now this aircraft prepared for all you simflyers to enjoy this magnificent bird in FS9.

Installation:
Unzip the file to your main FS9 aircraft folder and copy the contents from the "gauges" folder into your FS9\gauges folder (i suggest you don't overwrite existing ones).

Note:
Taxi slowly, let the aircraft accelerate to IAS 140 kts before rotation.
Aircraft has autopilot, folding wings, dynamic virtual cockpit, arrestor hook and opening canopy.
Tested it on Flight Deck III (Abacus) and the cable landing worked!

CREDITS:
Model by Ed Wilson "gzr_groundhog".
Panel by Steve Downing.
Textures by J-P Demmerle "gzr_Grey Wolf"
Air File by Steve Baugh
Original Props by Gramps
Modification to FS9 by Rene Spaan

This plane is distributed as freeware. To remain truly free it should not be used in any way or form to make money. Any product can be improved on and I hope this will be the case with the Skyraider. As a courtesy I would like to be kept informed of improvements and/or suggestions.
Enjoy!!
”

Fun to fly and looks OK in a non professional sort of a way:

My first landing in the type (not good, but FS9 did not consider it a crash). She is no glider.

Thought i'd chip in about the Razbam model, Ive had my pack 1 from PCAviator for many years and consider it the best in town, you get quite a lot for your money, You get 10 different models with 4/5 repaints with each, there's even a Royal Navy ASW version. Here's a few screenies including the VC
