Douglas C-47 V3 Beta Released

I love this bird. Maybe I have overseen something, but is there a slight glance of coming Features, beside of (awesome looking in Screenshot) night lighting?

Any one know of a way that the checklists can be modified. There is one item I wish to delete at the very end on the "Shut Down Checklist" since I use GSX Ground Support. I want to leave the battery on so my passengers can see to disembark. I also noticed that there is no item to turn off the seat belt sign in the Shut Down Checklist.

I looked all over my files but can find nothing except the "htm" file...but modifying this does not change the reading of the checklist.

Thanks for any help.

Modifying the Checklist

Any one know of a way that the checklists can be modified. There is one item I wish to delete at the very end on the "Shut Down Checklist" since I use GSX Ground Support. I want to leave the battery on so my passengers can see to disembark. I also noticed that there is no item to turn off the seat belt sign in the Shut Down Checklist.

Thanks for any help.

Though I did not design THIS I think from other experiences that the reason the checklist is still being read is that you have not modified the audio file which is being called up, I believe. You would have to modify that as well which requires an audio program like Audacity (free) or Audition (Payware). With the help of a friend who was a flight attendant we created our own audio files to use on FDSFX panel that are played by gauges. FDC Flight Deck Companion has like 400+ audio files to work with its checklists and MUlitCrew Experience has special audio files. I created some for them using their special software.

I would be interested for an answer to this from the designers.

Various mods are in the works.

As for the checklist, we have progressed to a "typewritten" interactive sheet format where you can freely set, unset and skip individual items. For instance, in "learning mode" you can start up an engine entirely by clicking the items prompted for by the co-pilot.

Self-illumination works with seperate 'nightlight' texture bitmaps that can be used to simulate light coming from UV light lamps and/or spotlights::mixed-smiley-010:

Thank you for this superb simulation that puts many payware, "finished" simulations to shame.

I especially like the engine modelling. Although I have just started flying with the aircraft, I see differential engine fuel usage. Those engines are living things...Just like they were for real when my father worked on them! This simulation is totally compelling and truly a labour of love!:encouragement:

There are a few things missing. The lighting I quoted, would be a great and welcome addition.

Thanks again. I really appreciate your work

Best Regards

David

Patience is a virtue

Well in all the excitement about other things (Latest releases paints etc) and while I patiently wait for the C-47 to be cleared for night flights, I have returned to the C-47 for a really good workout that will probably run for a couple of months on and off. As the updates and night flying stuff is still being worked on, I thought a VFR or Day only operation is required so back in time and into flying the WW2 logistics operation out of India to China and Burma also know as the THE HUMP. Nicholsons CBIX.zip has provided the airfields and most range aids so that solves that problem. GPS in terrain mode provides the cockpit map.

I have all up logged about 450 hours in sim on the DC-3/C-47 and so appreciate that this version is simply the best and probably always will be. No frame rate issues and no texture or graphics issues either. I do have a couple of glitches with switches not selecting or working but they are transitory and never mar a flight at all.

Any issues with the C-47 Not so far. I am using the co-pilot and interactive checklist so far no issues and I am using the SHIFT+4 Mini panel to set some things up etc. No issues there either. Sound is good and interestingly when you fly with the windows open it is a lot noisier than when they are closed (But cooler LOL). At the sort of elevations and altitudes and latitudes in the HUMP area the engines are working hard and so far authentically. I have had a number of heart stopping moments where the climb has had to be stopped and cowl flaps opened and the mixture richened up again to keep the cylinder head temperatures out of the red zone, so far no engine fires or other calamities. From the original stories you can see how they were often near the stall speed making about 100 fpm rate of climb and still not high enough, same problem ala FSX.

The more time I spend flying this aeroplane the more impressed I am with it so to all involved again thank you very much, this is what flight simulation is all about, realism and fun.

As for the HUMP well I am going to put together some plan and flight packages for those who like the easy way. me I plan every flight, check the weather, maps etc., so each one is a new and steep learning experience. Really want to know what this machine can do, then do the hump is all I can say.

The excellent JK Burma Airlift paint. This is departing Paoshun (Elevation 5600 ft) on climb to Tsuyung and it is a slow and long way up to F150).

Having just downloaded this wonderful aircraft, I had to come here and post my thanks to the team that put this together - even in beta it is superb, well done gents!

V 3.14 Beta in the pipeline

Not Jan speaking here, but I can show you a screenie of what's up and coming.

Yes, you've seen it immediately, the main innovation is the "cutie" picture, which is clickable for alternatives, and replaceable, too, by anything you can come up with. What else is there? Oh, night lighting, of course. New old upholstery. Genuine Auto Rich and Auto Lean mixture handling. Revised Flight Dynamics by Alexander. Revised interactive Checklist with or without audio, ideal playgrouhd for budding Gooney pilots. Backwards compatible with V. 3.12 repaints. Now your question, of course, is ...

Simply wonderful. Any chance we'll eventually get integral airstairs...and do you have any plans to extend the "love" to your incredible C-117 as well? Gosh-- I love these two airplanes...you can't have too many C-47s!

that looks really cool!

I have a question, at the moment, the engine textures are mirrored, and I can imagine changing that will be a bit of a hassle, and at least we have inside and outside textures, but the cowl flaps are mirrored twice, so the same for the inside and the outside. I ran into problems with my recent Brazilian paint. Would it be possible to make a separate texture for both sides of the cowl flaps, so inside and outside, like the engines? Of course, even better would be to make separate textures for both engines, although I'm not sure there is enough space on the present textures...
