Douglas C-47 v3 Livery Thread

[Jafo]

Probably time to upload a few...before I forget which ones I haven't....

Here's VH-SBN in TAA 'Cargo Master' livery.

Since more info from Mr. Leith, Curator RAF Museum, made some changes to Monty's C-47. There is an 1948 article (The Royal Air Force Review), about the RAF V.I.P. 24th Squadron transport service. All aircraft are hand polished with rags. No machines were used due to grounding down the rivets.

There's a couple of options I can use and haven't decided on which ones just yet. So still a wip. This will replace the early that has a few mistakes.

Ted-

BRILLIANT! (pun intended).... but I'm a sucker for RAF a/c.... She'll do nicely for the Kestrel and Kittyhawk flightings around LON C.

One of Monty's C-47 has the two shields, but no crest (1945). And one with the two shields and crest.

One has the two shields and large 24th round badge (1946) and the KN628 is slanted with the wings. Fuselage roundel has yellow ring.

Another has the prop hubs black and another with black hubs, props, and spinners. Also different roundel types (1946, 1949) and two different tail banners (red, white, blue), white is either thin line or same size as the other colors.

Lots of variety here!

Pops some windows in the cargo doors real quick just to see what that would look like.

That particular crest is of course, not 24 Sqdn Ted. It's RAF Transport Command.

True, it was based on this picture of something gold/yellow like the Transport Command Griffon.

And these with the the 24th Blackcock (Base on 1946 photo).

That's really good Ted. I'm looking forward to the 24 Sqdn version.

Here is one that was requested. Still a few things to do. Will be uploading this one and a few other RAF Dakota's by the weekend.

Last thing I need to do is the KN628 under the wings. The pic under the wing is from KN628 (1946) and is large and tilted.

The prop is now grey and exhaust shield. Windows on the cargo doors done.

All available here on SOH...except the 'Air Coach' which is still on the go ...

Now if I can find that elusive photo of what's on the top of the wings....there might be a 'VH-ANQ' on top....but not always...it's done...unless I need to add it.

Great - thanks - grabbing them now!

[Jafo]

Photos of tail draggers seem to be notorious for not showing the tops of the wings....as if it's not their photogenic side....
....but meanwhile I've found 2 photos of what'll be my next project.....should be fun....ah, but if only they were in colour...

[Jafo]

VH-ANQ Victorian Air Coach Services is done....decided the closest I could ascertain was the top has the same as the bottom....so did it that way...time to upload...

So....here's a rare one on the go....bit more to do...
VH-CXE..."Shiny Shiela" [even spelled wrong - or right in this case]

No idea of colours...but I'll assume she was. I imagine the text was black...but the nose stripe might have been blue...
...and those stars are correct - just weird...blame the CAC...

Edit....colours added...blackout fixed...
